Description

The Professional Certificate in Player Wellbeing & Development has been designed to give participants practical knowledge and skills in the area of athlete wellbeing and development. The course will examine the role of the Player Development Manager and what are current best practices, identifying the necessary knowledge, skills and capabilities needed for supporting and nurturing the overall wellbeing and development of athletes. The course will also look at the challenges of the role and how to prepare an effective Player Wellbeing & Development Strategy.

The course will be made up of 4 Modules:

Module 1: The Role of the Player Development Manager

Module 2: Best Practice in Player Wellbeing & Development

Module 3: The Challenges in Player Development

Module 4: Preparing a Player Wellbeing & Development Strategy

The course is designed to be interactive and practical, structured around two 3-hour live workshops supported by an interactive online portal. At the end of the course participants will have the opportunity for an additional fee to complete a Masters Level assessment that will be assessed by La Trobe University and will give them 1 Unit Credit in the Masters of Sports Management at La Trobe University.

Presenter— Josh McCahon—Head of Player Development at Hawthorn FC

Josh has been working in the AFL Industry for the past 23 years across a multitude of roles. He is a qualified teacher who has taught Physical Education and held multiple leadership positions.

Josh is the Head of Player Wellbeing and Development at the Hawthorn Football Club which oversees both the AFL and AFLW programs. Josh’s core responsibilities include the club’s player wellbeing and development strategy, transition of players, players off field growth, the club’s family and partner conduit and the support and guidance to all players on the Hawthorn Football Club list.

Format

Our AFL Industry short courses are delivered via Live Zoom Workshops plus Pre and Post Course Online Activities in our Learning Management System to provide a rich educational experience that can be accessed from any location at any time.  If you are unable to attend the Zoom workshop/s they will be recorded and available in the online portal to watch for 7 days post workshop.
