As the governing body for Golf in Australia, our key responsibilities are to encourage participation across the sport whilst supporting the health of all places to play around the country.  Working alongside key industry partners such as the PGA of Australia and the WPGA Tour, Golf Australia helps provide player pathways through the events at club and state level, through to the Australian Open.  In addition, we support the high-performance program developing talent through to the professional stage. 

About the Role:

The Participation Officer will have a focus on grassroots development, including women and girls engagement and alignment with the Australian Golf Strategy, provide ongoing delivery and support to GA - Qld’s Golf Participation team across key strategic areas including MyGolf (Juniors), TeeMates (Juniors), Get into Golf (Adults), and other development products deemed important to the growth of the game.

Reporting to the Golf Participation Manager - QLD/NT, the Participation Officer- QLD will also play a key role in providing further insight into the national strategy around the Australian golf pathway’s products and offerings on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Specific areas of responsibility include:

  • The recruitment and servicing of centre’s registered to deliver MyGolf and Get into Golf programs;
  • Helping with the administration of the Sporting Schools program throughout Queensland;
  • Working with schools, golf coaches, clubs, and facilities to increase take-up and participation within the program;
  • Helping with the administration and delivery of the existing TeeMates 9-hole series of events.
  • Provide a high level of support to all internal and external Queensland golf stakeholders around junior and adults participation programs and offerings;
  • Engagement within working groups focusing on Australian golf’s pathway products on a regular basis.

Key Requirements

In addition, you will have:

  • 3+ years experience in a game development/participation role within a sporting organisation, or;
  • 3+ years experience in a sales role outside a sporting organisation;
  • Outstanding communication skills, written and verbal/presentation;
  • Demonstrated experience engaging/influencing with external stakeholders and the ability to form effective working relationships with a varied range of groups and people;
  • Excellent time management skills and task prioritisation across daily, weekly, and long-term organisation objectives;
  • Ability to deal calmly and consistently with conflicting priorities;
  • Strong data entry, word processing and scheduling skills;
  • Comprehensive organisational skills to meet deadlines;
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • A good understanding of the Australian golf landscape;
  • The ability to work remotely and travel within designated region(s) as required;
  • Flexibility to undertake unique work hours to meet the needs of clubs and facilities.
