The BOM is responsible for driving the establishment and ongoing operations of the Regional Councils of Tasmania, enabling stakeholder engagement in delivery of the BTAS strategic plan consistently across all regions of Tasmania. Combined with this governance responsibility, the BOM will oversee the day-to-day management of Basketball Operations and is accountable for driving and delivering quality Basketball competitions, growing basketball’s pathways and continually improving BTAS’s service standards. The BOM will represent BTAS on various working groups, provide high level advice to the Board and CEO, and manage department on appropriate strategies for the growth, development and continuous improvement of BTAS run and operated Competition initiatives.

Governance

• Establish, communicate and coordinate the activity of three Regional Councils servicing each region of Tasmania working collaboratively across internal and external stakeholders to develop Basketball in Tasmania and drive engagement, ensure a strong member voice in strategic decision making across all Basketball competitions and programs.
• Provide analysis and reporting to help build knowledge, understanding and insight for future and ongoing tactics, strategies and program development. o Communicate with our stakeholders and drive strategic outcomes.
• Stay abreast of sports management and development trends, innovations and best practice across the industry to continue evolving our sport.
• Provide timely advice and governance recommendations to the Board and CEO on Regional Council engagement, CAMs and Competitions.
• Coordinate the activity of relevant sub-committees and working groups.

Competition & Event Management

• Engage with Regional Councils to ensure consultation and continual improvement of BTAS Competitions.
• Work closely with the Competition & Events Management team to deliver agreed competition structures and outcomes and service BTAS Competitions, and Constituent Association Members (CAMs) in each region.
• Ensure that BTAS Competitions are cost effective, adequately resourced, run and governed.
• Ensure the Participation for officials grows to meet KPIs to enable growth of Basketball.
• Link the NBL1 Clubs with all activities conducted for strong promotion of the sport and participation opportunities.

Budget & Risk

• Set and oversee an approved Budget relative to department.
• Maintain effective monitoring and management of the financial position against budget allocations and identify variances.
• Maintain a current and effective risk management framework relative to each department.

People and Culture

• Adopt a holistic view to the on-going success of BTAS and achievement of strategic objectives.
• Promote and strive for the desired culture, values, and behaviours amongst BTAS employees and related groups.
• Increase your capabilities in areas required to achieve desired outcomes by undertaking specific training and personal development programs.
• Ensure adherence to the policies and procedures put in place by BTAS.
• Ensure all relevant safety standards are maintained.
