About the job

Champion Data is now seeking highly motivated people to join our casual rugby league match day data team in New South Wales - Sydney for the 2025 seasons. All roles are based at Champion Data’s Sydney bunker which is only a few minutes walk from Central Train Station.

The 2025 Rugby League season includes but is not limited to:

• Telstra Premiership (Home & Away and Finals)
• NRLW (Home & Away and Finals)
• State of Origin (Men’s and Women’s)
• All-Stars (Men’s and Women’s)
• International Representative matches

The roles available include:

• CALLER - Calling all statistics as they occur throughout the entirety of a Rugby League match according to the strict Champion Data calling protocols and statistical definitions off vision. This role requires an elite level of player identification of Rugby League players. The caller works in conjunction with the Capture Operator and Graphical Operator.
• CAPTURE OPERATOR - Records all the statistics that occur throughout the entirety of a Rugby League match by listening to the caller and entering those stats into a purpose-built capture software system. The capture operator works in conjunction with the Caller and Graphical Operator (Positional Plotter) to edit statistics during the breaks and at full time to ensure quality control.
• GRAPHICAL OPERATOR - Responsible for plotting the XY coordinates of certain statistics such as run, run end, kick, kick end and try scoring locations that happen in a Rugby League match. The operator is also another set of eyes for quality control and works in conjunction with the Caller and Capture Operator. Employees are retained across seasons therefore successful applicants can continue with the company for future years without reapplying.

• High availability for scheduled matches as per the 2025 Men’s and Women’s fixtures
• A thorough knowledge of the rules of Rugby League (essential)
• A proven record in accountability, reliability, and punctuality
• Clear and concise communication skills
• Familiarity with Windows environments
• Capable under pressure
• Work on a rotating roster alongside existing casual staff
• Communicate openly by exchanging information and actively listening to all
• stakeholders
• Work together collaboratively to achieve outstanding results
