Following the successful Olympic Campaign at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Paddle Australia is seeking to recruit an experienced and values driven Senior National Canoe Sprint Coach to be based at the National Training Centre on the Gold Coast, QLD.
In joining this team, you will be a key contributor to Paddle Australia’s Canoe Sprint performance ambitions, that include:
Delivering Medal Winning crews in both men’s and women’s crewboats at the LA28 Olympics
A performance philosophy that unites and aligns the Canoe Sprint HP Program and Pathway around our ‘Australian Way’ and that will support sustainable performance excellence through to 2032 and beyond
A Daily Performance Environment (DPE) that enables athletes, coaches and staff to bring to life our ‘winning well’ culture
To achieve these performance ambitions, Paddle Australia has restructured its National Centre of Excellence (NCE) Canoe Sprint High Performance Program with the appointment of Jimmy Owens as the Canoe Sprint Head Coach. His role will be to lead the DPE by setting the performance standards and training program objectives for both the men’s and women’s programs that underpin medal winning performances. He will be supported by two Senior Coaches who will each lead the Daily Training Environment (DTE) of the Men’s and Women’s Squads.
If successful in this role your responsibilities will include
To implement and run the daily training environment (DTE) for our men's or women's NCE athletes under the guidance, philosophy and alignment of the head coach’s programming, key training sets and technical model
To deliver a DTE that meets the standards required by the Head Coach, by leading on-water training sessions while providing exceptional technical and performance analysis feedback
To work with the Performance Support Team within the DTE to provide an integrated service that aligns with the training program objectives to maximise athlete performance
To work collaboratively with the Head Coach and the other Senior Coach to track and manage the performance outcomes of all NCE athletes
To develop the athletes’ technical application to the highest standard to enable crewboat connectivity, stability and speed
To develop an exceptional working relationship with the Head Coach and other Senior NCE Coach that enables seamless coaching of all athletes and aggregates the coaching knowledge of all 3 NCE coaches for the benefit of the athletes
