The Kick-off Story

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has awarded Football Australia hosting rights for the 2026 edition of the AFC Women's Asian Cup™. This marks Australia's second time hosting the event, after previously staging it in 2006, and follows the success of co-hosting the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup™.

You will be part of a Local Organising Committee (LOC), which has been established for the sole purpose of delivering the 2026 edition of the AFC Women's Asian Cup™ in Australia.

This prestigious event will bring together 12 nations in a tournament structured into three groups of four. We are eager to create another tournament that celebrates women's football and multicultural Australia and also delivers legacy outcomes for football and Australian society more broadly.

Your Next Big Match

This role is crucial in supporting the execution of the Fan Experience strategy that promotes the tournament and supports the legacy of football in Australia. We are looking for an individual passionate about creating unforgettable moments for fans and ensuring every fan has a seamless event experience.

Please note that this role is fixed term until 11 April 2025.

Fan Experience

  • Assist in planning and executing the overall fan journey, including marketing materials and venue activations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure high-quality fan zones and commercial activations.

Official Functions and Events

  • Support the organization of major AFC and LOC events, such as The Final Draw and Trophy Tour.
  • Manage event documentation, budgets, supplier contracts, and health & safety compliance.

Ceremonies

  • Assist in planning and executing the Opening and Closing ceremonies with key stakeholders.
  • Oversee budget, supplier contracts, and project management for seamless execution.

Administration

  • Handle administrative tasks such as meeting notes, presentations, budgets, and project documentation.
  • Manage contracts, financial processes, and contact databases for efficient event coordination.

What Gets You in the Game?

  • 2+ years in events, sports, or festival coordination with strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office, documentation, and reporting throughout event processes.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills for liaising with stakeholders and drafting public-facing content.
  • Understanding of risk assessments and key safety documentation.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, work under pressure, and operate both independently and in a team.
  • Willingness to travel, work out of hours, and adapt to a fast-paced sporting environment.

Must demonstrate the ability to work with agility, foster trust, embrace inclusivity, collaborate as one united team, and consistently strive for excellence.

  • Full working rights in Australia *(please note that due to the fixed-term nature of the tournament, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this position)
  • Working with children check (paid/employee) or state-based equivalent 
  • International Criminal History Record for each country (other than Australia) in which you have resided for 12 months or more in the last 10 years (if applicable)
  • Out of hours and weekend work as required
  • Our roles are based at Moore Park in Sydney
