Softball SA are currently seeking to appoint casual Game Development Officers across Port Pirie, Mt Gambier, and Mildura regions to deliver social softball, school clinics, and entry level softball programs.

We are looking for individuals with a positive and can-do attitude towards delivering exceptional participation experiences. If this sounds like you, but you don’t know anything about softball, don’t hesitate to apply, we will train and accredit you.

Successful candidates must be able to demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children and young people.

Softball Australia (SA) is the National Sporting Organisation (NSO) for the sport and has eight member States and Territories across the country. There are over 23,000 members and over 100K+ players in Australia ranging from grassroots through to elite talent.

The Role:

Softball SA are currently seeking to appoint casual Game Development Officers across South Australia (based in Port Pirie, Mt Gambier, and Mildura, respectively) to deliver social softball, school clinics, and entry level softball participation programs.

We are looking for individuals with a positive and can-do attitude towards delivering exceptional participation experiences. If this sounds like you, but you don’t know anything about softball, don’t hesitate to apply, we will train and accredit you.

The role includes organising, promoting and developing community softball through liaison with Softball SA (and affiliated clubs and associations). This role is perfect for enthusiastic and driven individuals who aim to forge a career in sport, recreation, teaching or passionate softballers seeking casual employment opportunities.

As a casual employee, you can choose the programs you are available to deliver (as an example, most programs could run between 8am-6pm, Monday to Sunday).

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver fun and engaging social softball for people of all ages and genders.
  • Deliver fun and engaging entry-level softball programs to students, mainly (but not limited to) in primary schools.
  • Create linkages between all school programs with neighbouring clubs or leagues to harness school to club transition of participants
  • Assist with softball events/programs including Social softball, Home Run Heroes programs, club & associations events, School Events, Teacher PD sessions, School Holiday Programs, etc
  • Actively work to increase the footprint of softball in the local community
  • Demonstrate an understanding of appropriate behaviours when engaging with children and young people
  • Contribute to Softball Australia values and behaviours and other duties that maybe requested

Selection Criteria

  • You demonstrate exceptional communication skills and possess the ability to deliver engaging programs to enthusiastic young softballers of varying abilities and skill levels
  • You possess the ability to remain organised under varied situations in a confident and calm manner
  • You have access to a car and hold a valid driving license to be able to drive to schools or community centres with equipment.
  • Valid (or willing to obtain) Working with children clearance
  • Valid (or willing to obtain) Softball Community Coaching Accreditation
  • (Desired) Valid First Aid & CPR Qualification
