RA is the national governing body for the sport and is responsible for the leadership, administration, and governance of the sport nationally. RA delivers the high-performance program and is responsible for the performance of the Australian Rowing Team, who are high performing on the global stage including Olympic, Paralympic, and Commonwealth Games.
About the role
Reporting to the CEO and forming part of the Executive Leadership Team, the Commercial Manager plays a pivotal role in leading Rowing Australia’s commercial, marketing, and communications strategy, while also driving the commercial and promotional execution of its major national events.
The role is dual focused across revenue growth and brand visibility.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead and deliver Rowing Australia’s commercial strategy, including sponsorship acquisition, partner management, and revenue diversification across assets and events.
- Oversee marketing and communications across digital, print and media channels, ensuring consistent brand messaging and audience engagement.
- Drive the commercial and promotional execution of national events, including the Australian Rowing Championships, Masters, Beach Sprints and Hancock Prospecting Rower of the Year Awards.
- Support fundraising efforts in collaboration with the CEO and Rowing Australia Foundation, helping to grow philanthropic and donor contributions.
- Manage stakeholder relationships, including government, sponsors, councils and suppliers, to secure funding, build partnerships and maximise event reach.
About you
We are looking for a capable and authentic person with the ability to have a positive impact on our organisation and sport.
The following would be advantageous:
- Commercial and marketing experience, ideally within sport, events, or entertainment, with a track record of securing and managing sponsorships and partnerships.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, capable of building trusted relationships across government, corporate, media, and community networks.
- Strategic thinker with hands-on delivery experience, able to develop and execute integrated marketing, communications, and fundraising plans that drive growth and brand impact.
- Event-savvy operator, experienced in commercialising events.
- Digitally fluent, comfortable managing content, campaigns and performance metrics.
- Collaborative and accountable leader.
Position location
Ideally the successful applicant will reside or have the capability to relocate to the ACT. The role may require interstate travel.
