About the Role
Under the guidance of the Performance Pathways Lead, the Specialist will lead a targeted program focused on talent identification, development, and transfer—supporting pre-categorised, emerging, and developing Para-athletes. This position plays a strategic role in increasing the number of athletes progressing through national and international Para-sport pathways. Working closely with the Paralympics Australia team and key system partners including the AIS, National Sporting Organisations (NSOs), and National Institute Network (NIN), the role is critical in fostering alignment and integration across the performance pathway ecosystem. Success will be measured through athlete progression, contribution to Paralympic podium outcomes, and improved athlete experiences.
- Identify and address system-wide barriers to athlete progression within NSO and SIS/SAS performance pathways.
- Collaborate with system partners to design and implement effective Talent Identification (TID) initiatives.
- Use all available tools to identify individuals with early indicators of Paralympic medal potential.
- Support targeted Para-athletes with developmentally appropriate initiatives to aid progression through the Performance Pathway.
- Provide expert Para-sport advice to athletes and stakeholders to enhance performance outcomes.
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships across the high-performance sport system to strengthen pathway support and resourcing.
- Manage planning, data tracking, and reporting to meet key performance indicators and support national athlete databases.
