QSport is the peak body for sport in Queensland and centres its work on a Vision that every Queenslander can find connection, be active and contribute to their community though sport.

It is an exciting time to join the QSport team as we work with Members, stakeholders, partners and allies across the sport and active recreation ecosystem to level up our work and its positive impacts.

With the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games fast approaching this is a key role to shape the opportunities for sport across Queensland pre, during and post the Games. It is an exciting environment with the combination of industries and governments creating huge potential over the next decade.

QSport's CEO is responsible for:

Understanding, Engaging and Delivering for QSport’s Members

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with QSport Members.
  • Use various approaches to surface, understand and prioritise Member requirements.
  • Design, deliver and evaluate programs and services that address Members’ requirements.
  • Identify and prioritise the right opportunities to grow and diversify QSport’s membership.

Growing Investment in QSport

  • Identify and pursue appropriate opportunities for event, product and service revenue growth.
  • Develop and lead the implementation of QSport’s sponsorship program..
  • Identify and pursue appropriate sources of government investment to augment QSport’s programs and services for Members and the industry

Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy

  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with government, corporate and community stakeholders.
  • Craft and communicate tailored messages to key stakeholders which promote the profile and positive impacts of QSport, its Members and the industry more broadly.

Governance, Finance and Risk Management

  • Manage QSport’s governance initiatives including the annual calendar of Board activities and compliance obligations.
  • Work with the Board to set annual budgets and monitor performance against budget.
  • Work with QSport’s accounting partner to oversee all financial operations and appropriate      controls, including management of accounts, payroll and reporting requirements.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to financial policies and processes.
  • Regularly review and maintain QSport’s policies and procedures, including appropriate updates to meet regulatory obligations and align with industry best practice.
  • Identify policy gaps and emerging areas requiring new policy and draft proposed policies for review.

Leading Major Projects

  • Identify opportunities for new projects aligned with QSport’s Values and strategic priorities.
  • Take accountability for the design and successful delivery of major projects.
  • Manage all internal and external project reporting.

Supporting The Success of QSport’s Events

  • Support the Operations Manager to develop QSport’s annual Events Program.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager on the design, planning, delivery and evaluation of major events.
  • Support the delivery and evaluation of all other (non-major) events.
  • Ensure QSport’s events meet all contractual obligations to sponsors, partners and suppliers, and recommend ways QSport can improve benefit delivery to these cohorts.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve QSport’s events and to introduce new events to the annual Program.

Essential Requirements

  • Sports Management / Business Degree
  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • Senior leadership experience in sport business
  • Knowledge of sport industry and stakeholders

Desirable Criteria

  • Governance certification (e.g. AICD) or an equivalent combination of formal and on-the-job learning
