Step up to the plate. Lead a global sporting moment.

Are you ready to make history?

Softball Australia is calling on a game-changer to step into the spotlight as Tournament Director for the 2027 WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup Final Stage, hosted in sunny Queensland. This is your chance to lead a major international event on home soil and create a moment that will inspire fans, players, and future athletes for years to come.

If you’re a master of event delivery, a leader who thrives in the spotlight, and you’re not afraid of a bit of pressure - then this role is for you.

What you’ll be leading from the front:

  • Take charge of the event master plan, timelines, logistics, and execution.
  • Chair the Local Organising Committee (LOC) - guide, unite, and motivate a high-performing team to deliver something unforgettable.
  • Engage stakeholders at every level - from international federations to government partners, media, and community leaders.
  • Bring the fan experience to life through dynamic marketing, ticketing, ceremonies, and digital engagement.
  • Own the budget and revenue plan - track funding, manage reporting, and help secure commercial partners and grants.
  • Leave a legacy - not just an event, but a moment that elevates women’s sport in Australia and around the globe.

What we’re looking for:

  • You’ve run large-scale events and know what it takes to pull off something big.
  • You’re confident leading across operations, strategy, comms, and people.
  • You’re a strong communicator and relationship builder - you get things done with style and clarity.
  • You love a high-performance, fast-paced environment and know how to deliver under pressure.
  • You’re creative, passionate, and believe in the power of sport to inspire.

Bonus points if you’ve got:

  • A background in sport or major events
  • Experience working with international federations or governments
  • Softball knowledge (we won’t say no!)
  • Tertiary qualifications in event management or similar
  • A current Working with Children Check and First Aid certificate

Why this role rocks:

  • You’ll be front and centre of a major global tournament
  • Work with global sport leaders, government, media, and top-tier partners
  • Be part of Softball Australia’s Olympic journey (hello LA 2028)
  • Drive real impact for women’s sport and grassroots softball
  • A rare opportunity to create legacy, national pride, and unforgettable moments

The fine print:

  • Contract runs until 30 June 2027
  • Based at Softball Australia HQ (Albert Park, Melbourne) - with regular travel to Queensland
  • Must be available full-time in the 3 months leading up to the event (it’s go time!)
  • Some after-hours and weekend work required - because world-class events don’t run 9-5
