ADVERTISING FOR A FEMALE ONLY POSITION: SPECIAL MEASURES
In an attempt to reduce the gender imbalance in MSA's Strength & Conditioning Team, we are advertising for a female to join our staff. Anti-discriminiation laws allow for "positive discrimination" and permit measures to be introduced in pursuit of promoting or creating substantive equality for members of a group with a particular attribute. In our case, the decision to open the applications only for female applicants is with the intention to promote change and reduce the gender imbalance in the Strength & Conditioning Team.
"YOU CAN'T BE WHAT YOU CAN'T SEE"
"Role models and mentors are very important for all student-athletes here at MSA, and it's important that these include both males and females. Due to significant change in our staffing profile recently, we are using special measures for this role to ensure our students receive a balanced and comprehensive experience, in an encouraging and welcoming environment for all".
