About the role
NSWIS is offering an exciting opportunity to fill the full-time role of Senior Strength and Conditioning Coach supporting Rowing Australia’s Women’s National Training Centre. This position will design, implement, and deliver world class technical expertise in strength and conditioning support services primarily for the Women’s National Program and will also act as the S&C National lead for Women’s Rowing.
The role will optimise the achievement of performance outcomes and provide leadership in an integrated transdisciplinary performance team.
The Senior Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for supporting the Section Lead, Strength and Conditioning in the development and management of the strength and conditioning department.
Additionally, Senior Sport Science roles at NSWIS are expected to positively contribute to organisational and high-performance planning and initiatives and are accountable for maintaining world class technical standards consistently within their discipline.
This is a full time position, attracting a salary range starting at $120,441 pa plus superannuation. The contract period for this role is up to 31 December 2028 in line with the Olympic cycle.
This is an identified position requiring a Working with Children Check.

About you
You will bring to our team:
- Vast experience and a proven success record of delivering cutting edge strength and conditioning support to elite athletes at the highest levels of professional sport or on the world stage.
- Delivered strength and conditioning support and have lead performance support teams across a wide range of sports in multiple environments.
- A broad understanding of competition schedules and coaching trends and traditions across a wide range of sports. A clear understanding of what it takes to provide world leading strength and conditioning support across the whole athletic development pathway.
- A strong desire to keep pushing the boundaries, innovating, and driving the development of the field of strength and conditioning.
- Highly skilled in the use of a wide range of technology to guide strength and conditioning support.
- Recognised as a leader in the field of strength and conditioning with successful experience in managing and developing strength and conditioning coaches and teams of support staff.
- An excellent and timely communicator, able to self-manage effectively to complete tasks on time to a high standard and work effectively under pressure. Highly driven to continually drive standards of yourself and those around you.
Essential Requirements
- Extensive track record of success in Strength and Conditioning program design and practical implementation for elite athletes
- Honours or Master’s degree in Exercise, Health, Sport Science or related field specialising in the area of Physical Development
- ASCA Level 2 or international equivalent
- ASCA PCAS Pro or international equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License
- First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Awareness of contemporary issues relating to athletes in high performance sport (mental health, wellbeing, social issues)
- Working with Children Check or be willing to obtain this prior to working with us.
