Description

Volleyball Victoria Inc. (VV) seeks a highly strategic, commercially astute, and visionary leader to serve as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As the peak body for volleyball in Victoria, VV is a member-based, not-for-profit organisation dedicated to enhancing the sport across the state. The CEO will report directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for providing overall executive leadership, driving the organisation's strategy, and ensuring operational excellence to achieve the mission of enabling Victorians to achieve their aspirations through Volleyball.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

The CEO will lead the effective management and control of the organisation's activities and office, overseeing staff responsible for core areas including Membership & Communications, People & Culture, Pathways & Development, Events & Competitions, Finance & Operations & Marketing, including Digital Strategy.

Strategic Leadership and Governance

  • Lead the inclusive strategic planning process, incorporating input from staff, members, and stakeholders. Prioritise critical projects and maintain reporting through a governance framework.
  • Translate the Strategic Plan into an annual Operational Plan and budget for Board approval and subsequent implementation and monitoring.
  • Provide sound advice and support to the Board to ensure contractual, statutory, and legislative requirements are met in relation to organisational performance, planning, and reporting.
  • Embed best practice integrity, ethics, and code of behaviour through all levels of operations, including ensuring a Child Safe Sport environment.
  • Engage the broader Victorian community, leveraging all channels including owning and delivering the organisations digital strategy and presence. 

Pathways and Development

  • Oversee and actively drive the Pathways and Development portfolio to create opportunities for excellence and support the sport's core work.
  • Lead the development of a comprehensive, aligned system to track growth in: coaches, athletes, schools, and academies, leveraging this data for insight-driven decision-making.
  • Promote and increase the engagement of people, especially youth and diverse population groups, in the sport of volleyball.
  • Ensure the Victorian Volleyball League (VVL) competition pathway prioritises a positive participant experience, nurtures talent, and aligns with Volleyball Victoria's purpose of creating pathways for excellence.

Financial and Commercial Acumen

  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure the financial position and long-term sustainability of Volleyball Victoria and the State Volleyball Centre (SVC).
  • Proactively seek and secure revenue through diverse streams, including preparing grant submissions and actively seeking and managing commercial sponsorships and partnerships for both VV and the SVC.
  • Monitor and report regularly on the organisation budget and significant variations.

Stakeholder Management and Advocacy

  • Act as the principal spokesperson and advocate for Volleyball Victoria, cultivating productive relationships with Volleyball Australia, other State sporting bodies, and key industries.
  • Establish and maintain influential relationships with Federal, State, and Local Governments to secure strategic benefits, particularly in relation to equitable access to facilities across the state of Victoria.
  • Encourage and support member and stakeholder feedback to assist in the improvement of services and organisational performance.

People and Culture

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a team of employees, fostering a collaborative, high-performance, and supportive organisational culture that encourages initiative and supports teamwork in accordance with Volleyball Victoria goals and values.
  • Ensure all HR aspects, including annual staff reviews, appointment, and professional development is managed proactively and according to Board policy.
