About Us - Tasmania Basketball Pty Ltd

Tasmania JackJumpers are one-of-ten basketball clubs that form the National Basketball League (NBL) competition. Since launching in 2021, our strong cultural foundations and passionate fan base have led to unprecedented success on and off the court. In everything the JackJumpers do, we represent the state of Tasmania with pride. On the court, in the stands and in the community.

Tasmania Jewels are the newest addition to the WNBL, proudly becoming the league's first expansion licence and ninth team. Built on Tasmania's hallmark qualities of resilience, unity, and heart, the Jewels reflect the spirit of the island both on and off the court. With a deep commitment to our community and a clear vision for excellence, the Jewels are committed to establishing a strong culture that inspires players, fans, and future generations. 

The Opportunity

We're seeking an exceptional leader to drive the next chapter of the JackJumpers and Jewels story. As Chief Executive Officer, you'll work in partnership with our Board of Directors to deliver sustainable growth, commercial excellence, and on-court success for both our men's and women's programs.

This is a role for someone who combines commercial capability with genuine people skills - a leader who can unite stakeholders, inspire teams, and position our franchises as a benchmark in Australian basketball.

What You'll Focus On

Your time will be invested across four key areas:

  • Commercial Growth - Drive financial sustainability through sponsorship acquisition and retention, membership growth, and new revenue opportunities. You'll build long-term partnerships that deliver mutual value and secure the funding that enables our success.
  • Strategic Development - Shape our strategic direction and provide high-quality advice to the Board. You'll identify revenue diversification opportunities, explore facilities management potential, and ensure we're positioned for long-term success.
  • Organisational Leadership - Build a cohesive, high-performing team where Front Office, High-Performance, and players operate as one unified club. You'll create an environment where people feel valued, respected, and motivated to do their best work.
  • Community Engagement - Strengthen our connection to Tasmania and ensure the JackJumpers and Jewels truly remain the team for all Tasmanians through meaningful partnerships and impactful community programs.

  • Proven executive leadership with a track record of delivering results and strong commercial acumen
  • Commercial capability - experience growing revenue, managing financial performance, and building sustainable partnerships
  • Strategic thinking - ability to shape long-term direction and provide high-quality advice to Board level
  • Professional presence - credibility and gravitas that commands respect across all stakeholder interactions
  • Exceptional relationship builder - established networks across Tasmania and ideally the national sporting landscape, with genuine ability to create meaningful connections
  • Level-headed under pressure - calm demeanour that brings clarity and stability when challenges arise
  • Strong communicator - comfortable with media and able to work effectively with diverse stakeholders from community leaders to government officials
  • Unifying leadership style - ability to inspire teams, bring people together, and ensure everyone feels valued and heard
  • Passion for sport and genuine understanding of what it means to be custodians of Tasmania's clubs
