About Sunnybank Rugby Union Club 

Sunnybank Rugby Union Club is a proud, Premier Grade club based in Brisbane, Queensland, with a rich tradition of developing elite talent and competing at the highest levels of Queensland Rugby.  

 As we enter an exciting new chapter focused on growth, we are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Casual Coaches to join our Junior Program; to deliver quality sessions at the club, and in our community.  

The Opportunity 

Casual Coaches will be the face of Sunnybank Rugby in and around our community. They will deliver rugby sessions to U6 - U16s, boys and girls, and foster a love of the game, and fundamental skills.  You will report into the Junior Pathways Manager, and work closely with all Club staff to provide positive and engaging experiences for all players and their families.   

Casual hours will range between 6 - 15 hours per week, depending on the time of season, as instructed by the Junior Pathways Manager and General Manager.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Delivering rugby sessions across U6-U16 age groups, boys and girls. 
  • Assisting with club activations and programs, such as Academies, Get Into Rugby Clinics, Girls Can Tackle Anything and Holiday Camps.  
  • Delivering in-school initiatives to promote the game, and Sunnybank Rugby.  
  • Increasing grassroots participation in rugby in our wider catchment area, with conversion into Sunnybank Rugby membership.  
  • Creating a positive and enjoyable rugby experience for all Juniors and their families which aids retention and player development.  
  • Act as a public ambassador for the club, strengthening community ties and external partnerships across schools and the wider rugby community.  

Key Selection Criteria 

Essential: 

  • Rugby Australia Junior Coach Qualification as a minimum, Community Coach desirable.  
  • Current Smart Rugby and Season Ready compliance.  
  • Demonstrated experience within junior rugby environments. 
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills. 
  • Blue Card (Working with Children Check); Police Check. 

Desirable: 

  • Experience working within a Queensland Premier Rugby Club or equivalent    
  • Experience of working within primary / middle schools / sports development.
