Description

About the role

Teach engaging beginner to intermediate swim lessons for children (infants to 12 years) using the Jump Swim School curriculum. Create safe, fun, skill-building lessons that grow water confidence, develop stroke foundations, and encourage aquatic independence, all while fostering a welcoming, inclusive environment for families in Villawood. We welcome both experienced teachers and enthusiastic newcomers - full training and mentorship are provided.

Key responsibilities

  • Deliver structured 30-minute lessons for small groups and one-on-one sessions across age ranges (0-3, 3-5, 5-8, 8-12).
  • Follow Jump Swim School lesson plans and progression goals, adapting activities to each child’s needs.
  • Teach water safety, breath control, floating, kicking, basic strokes, and safe pool entry/exit skills.
  • Complete pre-lesson checks (equipment, pool safety, roster) and maintain post-lesson progress notes.
  • Use positive reinforcement and age-appropriate coaching to guide behaviour and engagement.
  • Communicate clearly with parents/guardians about progress, home practice ideas, and bookings.
  • Maintain high safety standards: supervise the pool deck, uphold rules, and respond to incidents per centre protocols.
  • Support administration tasks such as class sign-in, attendance, waitlists, and occasional front-desk duties.
  • Provide warm, professional customer service, assisting families with enquiries, bookings, and concerns.
  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and in-service coaching.
  • Assist with local promotional activities (community events, open days) when required.

  • New-to-teaching candidates: Friendly, motivated individuals with strong swimming ability and a passion for working with children. Structured training, mentoring, and pathways to formal qualifications are provided.

Training & support for new applicants

  • Paid in-centre induction covering curriculum, lesson planning, behaviour management, pool safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Practical teaching assessments with guidance from senior staff.
  • Access to subsidised qualifications and ongoing professional development.
  • Customer service and booking system training.

Desirable

  • Experience with franchise swim programs or advanced swim coaching.

  • Customer service, retail, or hospitality experience.

Working conditions & physical requirements

  • Poolside environment with humidity, chlorinated air, and wet surfaces.
  • Physically active role involving lifting equipment, entering/exiting the pool, kneeling, and demonstrating skills.
  • Adherence to uniform and professional presentation standards.

  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications (award-aligned).
  • Paid training and ongoing professional development.
  • Supportive, community-focused workplace in Villawood, with opportunities for increased hours and career progression as the franchise grows.
