The Melbourne University Basketball Club (MUBC) is pleased to invite applications for the position of a volunteer Head Coach - Development Women’s Program.
Background
MUBC is committed to delivering high-quality basketball experiences and building strong, sustainable pathways for our athletes. A key strategic priority in recent years has been the expansion of our women’s pathway programs, as we work toward establishing a Youth League Women’s team.
Program Overview
The Development Women’s Program plays a critical role within our pathway structure. It is designed to:
- Provide an elevated basketball experience for female athletes within the MUBC domestic community.
- Support players seeking to progress to higher-level representative competition, including women’s Big V.
- Create alignment with our senior women’s program through shared training environments and standards.
The team trains concurrently with our senior women’s Big V program and competes in the CYMS Sunday Senior Domestic Open Women’s A Grade competition at MSAC.
Key Details
- Commencement: Pre-season and tryouts from mid-March
- Training: Thursdays, 6:30-8:00pm
- Venue: Melbourne University Sports Centre
- Competition: CYMS Sunday Senior Domestic Open Women’s A Grade
- Season: Approximately 18-22 games (12 April - late September, including finals)
- Game Times: Sunday evenings (typically 5:30-9:30pm tip-off window)
- Venue: Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC)
The Role
The Head Coach will be responsible for leading all on-court aspects of the program, including player development, game preparation, and fostering a growth-orientated and inclusive team culture. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the broader MUBC coaching group and contribute to the continued growth of the Club’s women’s pathway.

Note that a Basketball Australia coaching qualification (or equivalent) and valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) are required.
