The North Queensland Cowboys Group is seeking an accomplished Head of Marketing to lead the strategic direction, integration, and delivery of marketing campaigns and advancements.
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for unifying brand identity, elevating commercial performance, and driving data-led, multi-channel marketing initiatives that strengthen member, fan, and customer engagement across all touchpoints.
The Head of Marketing will oversee and inspire the marketing and design team fostering creativity, operational excellence, and alignment with organisational strategy to deliver measurable business outcomes. Reporting to the Group General Manager CLC, Consumer Revenue and Brand you will form part of a dynamic team and have creative and strategic input into group wide projects and expansion during this exciting time for the brand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing and delivering the Cowboys Rugby League Football Club marketing strategy.
- Aligning marketing activity with organisational objectives, ensuring consistent messaging and brand governance across all touchpoints.
- Leading the planning and execution of integrated campaigns spanning digital, brand, membership, merchandise, hospitality, game day & community.
- Overseeing the development of brand strategy, communications frameworks, and organisation-wide storytelling.
- Leveraging data, insights, CRM, and marketing automation to drive acquisition, retention, loyalty, and overall marketing effectiveness.
- Designing customer journey frameworks and ensuring excellence across the entire fan, member, and patron lifecycle - from awareness to advocacy.
- Driving continuous improvement in digital user experience and cross-channel engagement.
- Leading, developing, and mentoring a high-performing marketing team, fostering collaboration, creativity, and accountability.
- Contributing to group-wide brand and marketing projects, including the review and enhancement of marketing, data and e-commerce platforms to improve efficiency and performance.
- Working proactively with internal departments, content teams, commercial partners, and external stakeholders to deliver aligned, high-impact marketing outcomes.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a senior marketing role within an agency or in-house environment.
- Proven ability to deliver end-to-end marketing strategies and campaigns to commercial outcomes.
- Strong experience across social media, e-commerce, CRM, and automated marketing systems.
- Outstanding written communication skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Strong organisational skills with the capacity to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to build effective relationships and influence across all levels of the organization.
- Advanced technical capability in:
- Content Management Systems
- Marketing automation platforms
- CRM & data-led marketing
- Social media administration
- E-commerce platforms
Desirable:
- Experience in the sports industry, member-based organisations, or merchandise marketing.
- Experience managing automated marketing workflows, audience segmentation, reporting, and campaign optimisation.
- Strong understanding of brand strategy and brand governance.
