Description

Volleyball South Australia (VSA) is seeking an experienced, values-driven Chief Executive Officer to lead and shape the next chapter of growth, sustainability, and impact for volleyball across the state. This is an exciting time to join VSA as it embarks on the delivery of a new beach volleyball venue at Bonython Park and a new volleyball headquarters and indoor venue at the Mile End Sports Complex.

The organisation

VSA is the governing body for volleyball in South Australia, dedicated to promoting the sport from grassroots participation through to high-level competition. Operating as a non-profit organisation, VSA is responsible for statewide leadership, governance, coaching, high-performance pathways, education, community engagement, and infrastructure advocacy.

The organisation represents more than 12,000 members across the state, supported by VSA staff and a strong volunteer workforce. VSA plays a critical role in delivering safe and inclusive participation opportunities, building pathways for players, coaches, and officials, and advocating for the sport with government and community partners to ensure volleyball is accessible and impactful across South Australia.

The opportunity

Reporting to the Volleyball SA Board, the Chief Executive Officer is responsible for:

  • leading the delivery of the current Strategic Plan (ending in 2026), and developing the next iteration of the strategic plan, with strong execution discipline and performance monitoring
  • proactively developing and enhancing relationships across a broad range of key stakeholders
  • driving financial sustainability through disciplined budgeting, sponsorship, partnerships, and grants
  • providing leadership to VSA staff and volunteers, fostering a culture of accountability, development, and continuous improvement
  • ensuring strong governance, risk management, and compliance within a board-governed environment
  • growing participation and retention across metropolitan and regional areas, strengthening school and community programs, and supporting clear pathways for players, coaches, and officials
