The School Sport ACT (SSACT) Executive Officer is responsible for developing and facilitating the coordination, support and promotion of the School Sport representative pathway and opportunities for ACT students at the local, regional and national level.
Strategic Leadership
Provide strategic leadership of school sport in Government and non-government schools.
Develop draft plans and strategies to achieve desired outcomes.
Influence others across government and non-government organisations to promote the aims of School Sport ACT
Be an active member of the School Sport Australia community and represent SSACT interests at National level.
Operational Management
Ensure that the day-to-day operations of SSACT are effectively and efficiently coordinated and implemented; including SSACT officials’ appointments, coordination of SSACT Calendar of Events, coordination of representative teams, hosting of SSA events/conferences
Maintain effective working relationships with the SSACT Council and associated committees.
Draft policies for approval by the SSACT Council and develop procedures and guidelines for implementation
Identify and evaluate risks to SSACT people, property, finances and image and implement measures to control risks.
Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong working relationships with and between all key stakeholders; including school principals, sport coordinators, event conveners, state sporting organisations, parents.
Conduct the business of SSACT in a professional and ethical manner.
Represent SSACT within the sport sector to enhance SSACTs role and profile.
Education and Support
Build and maintain a high-performance culture through effective communication, leadership and training.
Ensure the recruitment of appropriately skilled personnel to SSACT positions.
Develop and maintain guidelines and resources for the successful delivery of SSACT events.
Provide information/briefing sessions for school sport coordinators, coaches and team managers.
Attend and support the effective delivery of SSACT events; evaluate and action feedback for SSACT events
Marketing and Communication
Promote and market the importance of school sport including through various social media platforms (e.g. website, Instagram and FB).
Ensure regular and quality communication with all stakeholders.
Market SSACT to potential sponsors and supporters at every opportunity.
Negotiate partnership agreements, seek new partners and develop ongoing relationships to enhance the ongoing association with SSACT.
