Perth College is seeking an outstanding Head of Rowing to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across its rowing program. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead and support a team of coaches, drive program excellence and contribute to a values-driven educational environment.

The Head of Rowing may be appointed as either a teaching role with significant time release or a professional operations role, depending on the successful applicant’s qualifications and experience. Flexible hours are required during term time, including early mornings, evenings and weekends, with some work during school holidays to support the racing season and training program. 

About You

The successful applicant will lead performance outcomes while ensuring the Rowing Program remains inclusive, supportive and accessible to students of varying experience levels and aspirations. Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Accreditation with Rowing Australia or an equivalent national/international coaching body.
  • Prior experience as a rowing coach or within a rowing program, with strong technical knowledge of rowing technique, training program design, crew selection and athlete development.
  • Applicable water safety certifications (e.g. boat licence or coxswain endorsement).
  • Current Working with Children Check and Protective Practices Certification.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Bronze Medallion certification.
  • Experience in overseeing budgets and managing the procurement, maintenance and replacement of rowing equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a relational leader – who can relate to young people, manage parent expectations and lead with strength and presence.
  • Recruit, induct, roster and mentor a team of coaches, fostering a positive, professional and collaborative coaching culture.
