This is undoubtedly one of the most exciting times to join Diving Australia. With a strong track record of success across Olympic, World Championships and Commonwealth Games, Diving Australia is building momentum toward LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032.

We are now seeking a General Manager Operations to play a pivotal leadership role in driving organisational excellence, operational performance and sustainable growth across the sport.

About the Role

Reporting to the CEO, the General Manager Operations is responsible for the leadership of core business functions across Diving Australia.

This role translates strategy into execution — ensuring strong governance, financial stewardship, risk management, people leadership and high-quality delivery of competitions and national events.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team across finance, administration, competitions and events, working closely with the Executive Leadership Team to support performance outcomes and organisational growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver the operational aspects of the Diving Australia Strategic Plan
  • Provide executive oversight of finance, budgeting, forecasting and resource allocation
  • Strengthen governance, compliance and risk management frameworks
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team with clear accountability and KPIs
  • Oversee national competitions and events, ensuring excellence in execution
  • Drive continuous improvement across systems, processes and technology
  • Partner with the CEO, Board and key stakeholders to support organisational sustainability and growth
  • Ensure policies, procedures and integrity systems meet best-practice standards

About You

You are a confident, values-led operational leader with strong commercial acumen and a proven ability to lead people in complex environments.

You will bring:

  • Demonstrated people leadership experience and success building high-performing teams
  • Strong background in accounting, finance and financial governance
  • Proven experience designing and managing risk, governance and compliance frameworks
  • Experience in senior operational or executive leadership roles (sport, not-for-profit or similar is our preference)
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Experience in competitions, events and logistics management will be highly regarded, particularly within sport or event-driven environments.

Essential Requirements

  • Sports Management / Business Degree
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in an executive leadership role with previous leadership experience in sports, not-for-profit sector or similar sector
  • Demonstrated experience and success in securing partnerships, sponsorships and funding
  • Strong business skills and significant experience in managing financial resources, HR, risk management, business planning and strategy development
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully leading cross-functional teams and driving collaboration towards common goals, including demonstrated success in achieving organisational objectives
  • Proven leadership capability, with experience building, leading, and developing high-performing teams
  • Strong commercial, financial and operational acumen to drive effective resource management and sustainable outcomes
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and build trusted relationships

Desirable Criteria

  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check
  • Drivers Licence
  • Strong understanding of high-performance and participation / lifestyle sport, athlete engagement and the system dynamics of Olympic pathways
