Working closely with the Sailing Manager and a passionate team of staff and volunteers, this role is central to the coordination of SYC's keelboat and off-the-beach (OTB) racing, regattas, Discover Sailing programs and major club events.
About the role
You'll be hands-on and highly visible, coordinating weekly racing, supporting race management teams, assisting on-water when required and ensuring members and volunteers have a seamless sailing experience. From preparing race documents and publishing results, to supporting regattas, presentations and key events, no two days will be the same.
What you'll be doing
- Coordinating weekly keelboat and OTB racing programs
- Preparing Notices of Race, Sailing Instructions and race documentation
- Managing entries, handicaps and publishing same-day results
- Supporting race management teams, volunteers and on-water operations
- Assisting with regattas, Discover Sailing Days and club events
- Liaising with members, committees, volunteers and other yacht clubs
- Helping keep sailing communications, websites and systems up to date
What we're looking for
- A strong interest or background in sailing or boating
- Excellent organisation, administration and communication skills
- Confidence working with volunteers and multiple stakeholders
- Understanding of race documentation and sailing operations (highly regarded)
- Comfortable with systems such as TopYacht, TES, Excel or similar (highly regarded)
- Physically capable for occasional on-water work
