ABOUT THE ROLE

The Events & Commercial Lead plays a key role in supporting the development, delivery, and maintenance of commercial partnerships that support the organisation’s strategic goals. Along with this, the role supports the successful development and execution of Club events, including game day, corporate events, community events and sponsor activations. This role blends relationship management, marketing execution and administrative coordination to ensure the organisation maximises brand visibility and revenue opportunities.

The role is cross-functional and works with Commercial, Digital Content, Membership, Events & Fan Engagement and Community departments, with dual-direct reporting lines to the GM Commercial and Events & Fan Engagement Manager.

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Event Support

  • Assist in planning and delivering events, activations, and sponsor-related activities.
  • Assit with the coordination of signage, collateral, and branding requirements for events.
  • Support event logistics, as directed by GM Commerical and Events & Fan Engagement Manager.
  • Oversee the delivery of sponsor activations on game days

Sponsorship Support:

  • Maintain positive relationships with existing sponsors and identify opportunities for renewal or upselling.
  • Assist in preparing sponsorship proposals, presentations, and reports as required.
  • Track sponsorship deliverables, deadlines, and performance metrics.

Marketing & Communications

  • Assist in the production of content for social media, e- newsletters, websites, and promotional materials.
  • Ensure brand consistency across all marketing outputs.
  • Monitor campaign performance and provide insights to improve engagement.
  • Assist in the coordination of team and club media commitments such as: media call, post-match press conferences, article generation
  • Work with external partners and Digital Content team on activitites focused on the growth and management of the CRM database
  • Oversee the delivery of media requirements relating to game days and team training in accordance with the NBL Operational Guidelines.

Administration & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of sponsorship agreements, marketing assets, and campaign data.
  • Assist with the management of budgets, invoices, and timelines related to sponsorship and marketing activities.
  • maintain and utlise EngageRM (CRM) for the pipeline of customer data and profiles

Collaboration & Teamwork: 

  • Collaborate with Hawks administration team to ensure successful product delivery and client satisfaction across all departments. 
  • Provide feedback from clients to internal teams to assist in product improvement or marketing strategies.

REQUIRED SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Creative mindset with an understanding of branding and marketing principles.
  • Proficiency with digital marketing tools (social media platforms, email marketing, CMS, analytics).
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams and with external partners.
  • Strong organisational and administrative capabilities.
  • Ability to generate written content to support website, eDMs and corporate communications needsWhat qualifications, licenses or education level does the employee need?> What type and how much experience is needed?

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Tertiary qualification in marketing, communications, business, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience in sponsorship, partnerships, marketing, or events coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to create marketing content and manage the delivery of campaigns.
  • Experience working with CRM or sponsorship management systems is beneficial.

HOURS OF WORK

This is a full time position with a normal week of 38 hours. Given the unique nature of the sports industry, working outside of office hours will be required including attending all game days (home games) throughout the season and other job related activities from time to time. A degree of flexibility is required.

LOCATION AND TRAVEL

This position is based in the Illawarra Hawks office in Wollongong. On-site car parking is available. Travel to attend game days and other events may be required.
