School Sport Australia is seeking applications from suitable candidates for up to three Independent Board positions, to be appointed for a 2-year period.
The Independent Board positions provide School Sport Australia with a great opportunity to ensure the Board has the diverse representation and skills to deliver on its purpose and current Strategic Plan (2024 to 2026) and comply with the School Sport Australia Constitution.
This is an exciting time to join the School Sport Australia Board as it shapes up its future Strategic Plan for c2027 and beyond and seeks to drive key initiatives, including increasing opportunities for students with disability, driving student learning and development outcomes through school sport and exploring School Sport Australia Championship delivery models.
Based on School Sport Australia’s current Board skills matrix, applications are encouraged from those with skills, expertise and/or qualifications in the areas of either commercial and sponsorship, marketing and communications, legal and compliance and digital/technology. Previous Board experience will be looked upon favourably.
In addition, School Sport Australia’s Board comprises a President and 8 Board Members from each State Member body (Association Members). The current Board comprises 4 women and 5 men, with School Sport Australia seeking to ensure it has gender balance on the Board.
Board Members will be required to attend Board meetings, four meetings per year held every two months, attend Board committee meetings as required and review information between meetings for urgent matters. Meetings are primarily held online.
A successful applicant will be able to understand board processes, their duties as a Board Member and the education, national sport and/or school sport landscape to ensure good strategic decisions can be made.
