Description

Melbourne Storm is an Australian professional rugby league club playing in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition.  We are the only NRL team based in Victoria and have experienced substantial growth and success in our short history.

We are currently inviting expressions of interest from passionate, community-minded and high-performance-driven individuals to join our Junior Pathways Program for the 2027 season in the role of U17s Harold Matthews Team Physiotherapist.

The team physiotherapist plays a key role in the rehabilitation and performance of our athletes. Working closely with coaching, strength and conditioning and medical staff, the successful applicant will lead the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of injured players while supporting the delivery of the club's physical preparation program.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Lead the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return-to-performance planning for players within the U17 Harold Matthews program.
  • Develop individualised rehabilitation plans with clear, objective progression criteria for return to training and competition.
  • Coordinate and integrate rehabilitation programs with strength and conditioning, coaching, medical and welfare staff to ensure a collaborative approach to athlete management.
  • Deliver gym-based and field-based rehabilitation programs while monitoring athlete progress and communicating availability, restrictions and rehabilitation updates to coaches and performance staff.
  • Provide hands-on manual therapy and other clinical interventions as required throughout the training week.
  • Support injury prevention initiatives through prehabilitation strategies that complement the club's physical preparation program.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation, athlete availability records and injury surveillance data.
  • Complete mid-season and end-of-season injury reviews to inform ongoing program development.
  • Coordinate referrals to sports physicians, specialists and other external healthcare providers when required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Masters of Physiotherapy
  • Qualification in Sports Medicine and/or Strength and Conditioning (preferred)
  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • Relevant industry experience
  • AHPRA registration

Season Availability 

The Junior Reps Pathways season operates from November 2026 to May 2027. The commitment for this role is as follows:

  • Pre-Season (Nov 26’ - Feb 27’): 3-4 sessions per week 
  • In-Season (Feb 27’ - May 27’): 3 sessions per week + Game Day
