About the Opportunity

The St George Illawarra Dragons are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from experienced and reliable individuals to fulfil the role of House Parent within our Pathways Program.

Based in Kogarah, this role is responsible for supporting the day-to-day wellbeing, supervision, and environment of athletes residing in the club’s junior accommodation, ensuring a safe, structured, and high-performance living environment.

Role Overview

The House Parent plays a key role in the off-field development of young athletes, providing leadership, guidance, and oversight within the residential setting.

This position is critical in promoting positive behaviours, lifestyle habits, and personal accountability, while supporting the broader Dragons Pathways program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of the junior player house
  • Transport players to and from training and games
  • Monitor curfews, attendance, and general wellbeing
  • Assist in coordinating house logistics (meals, cleaning schedules, routines)
  • Liaise with Pathways staff regarding athlete welfare and any concerns
  • Act as a positive role model and mentor for young athletes
  • Provide a safe, structured, and supportive living environment
  • Support athletes in maintaining high standards in behaviour, routines, and personal responsibilities

About You

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has a genuine interest in youth development and athlete welfare
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, maturity, and reliability
  • Is highly organised and able to manage a structured environment
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Can build positive relationships with young athletes while maintaining clear boundaries and standards

Essential Requirements

  • Current Working with Children Check (NSW)
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificate (NSW)
  • Current NSW Driver's License (Unrestricted)
  • Availability across the Junior Reps period (November - May)
  • Strong understanding of youth supervision, welfare, or residential environments

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in a similar role (house parent, boarding supervisor, welfare officer)
  • Background in sport, education, or youth work.
  • Strong and confident communicator (oral and written)
  • Conflict resolution skills, ability to de escalate and mediate
  • Ensure child safety awareness and protocols are well known, understood and followed
