About Bankstown Football
Bankstown District Amateur Football Association (BDAFA) supports a vibrant football community across the Bankstown region, working closely with clubs, players, coaches, referees and volunteers to deliver quality football competitions and participation opportunities.
As part of an exciting organisational transition and growth strategy, BDAFA is creating a new Referee Services & Development Coordinator position to strengthen referee recruitment, education, development and retention across the district.
About the Role
This is much more than a referee appointments role.
Bankstown Football is seeking a motivated and passionate football person to coordinate referee services while helping shape the future of referee development within the district.
Working closely with the Bankstown District Referees Branch (BDR), the successful candidate will lead referee recruitment initiatives, support referee education programs, coordinate appointments and help establish a sustainable referee development framework.
The role will also establish and coordinate a referee development team comprising referee coaches, mentors and assessors to support referees at all stages of their journey.
The position includes a combination of weekday administration, evening training sessions and weekend football support.
Key Responsibilities
Referee Services
- Coordinate referee appointments across Bankstown Football competitions.
- Manage referee availability and appointment changes.
- Monitor referee coverage requirements.
- Coordinate finals and special event appointments.
Recruitment & Growth
- Develop and implement referee recruitment programs.
- Engage with clubs and schools to attract new referees.
- Promote female referee participation.
- Support junior referee recruitment initiatives.
Education & Development
- Deliver referee education and development activities.
- Support the Bankstown District Referees Branch in delivering training programs.
- Coordinate monthly referee development sessions.
- Assist with Level 4 Referee Courses and accreditation pathways.
- Develop resources and educational opportunities for referees.
Referee Development Team
- Establish and coordinate a team of referee coaches, mentors and assessors.
- Support and develop referee mentors.
- Coordinate assessment and feedback systems.
- Create referee progression pathways.
Welfare & Retention
- Support referees.
- Promote referee wellbeing and retention initiatives.
- Foster a positive referee culture.
- Build strong relationships between clubs, referees and the referee community.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a passion for football and community sport.
- Has experience as a referee, referee coach, assessor or football administrator.
- Possesses strong communication and organisational skills.
- Can build positive relationships with volunteers, clubs and stakeholders.
- Is capable of working independently and taking initiative.
- Has experience coordinating programs, appointments or development activities.
- Has strong computer skills and attention to detail.
Desirable
- Accredited football referee.
- Referee coaching or assessing experience.
- Experience delivering education or training programs.
- Knowledge of DRIBL, Play Football and football administration systems.
- Experience working within a referee branch or sporting association.
