Role Purpose & Description
Croquet Australia are currently embarking on a critical recruitment campaign to attract a minimum two (2) additional directors to the CA board in 2026, including a candidate to assume the role of Board Chairperson to lead Croquet Australia going forward.
The Nominations Committee Chairperson is a critial role to join two (2) existing Nominations Committee members to commence the recruitment of the additional director vacancies.
The Chairperson leads the Nominations Committee to ensure recruitment for the Croquet Australia Board is transparent, objective, and focused on attracting high-calibre leaders capable of advancing the national strategy.
Term and Commitment
- Engaged to lead the initial recruitment of two (2) directors, with opportunity to be an on-going appointment (maximum period of 3-years)
- Volunteer role, attending meetings online to fulfill requirements of the committee for recruitment purposes.
About the Nominations Committee
Provide the following leadership and guidance to the committee in the following areas of responsibility.
Leadership and Governance
- Lead meetings: Chair all committee meetings effectively.
- Set agendas: Plan meetings around the annual board recruitment cycle.
- Report to Board: Present merit-based recommendations and independent candidate assessments.
- Maintain integrity: Enforce strict confidentiality and manage conflicts of interest.
Talent Identification and Evaluation
- Skills audit: Review the existing Board skill matrix annually to find operational gaps.
- Assess candidates: Evaluate nominees objectively against the strategic needs of the sport.
- Conduct interviews: Lead the vetting and interview process for prospective directors.
Process Management
- Oversee campaigns: with the support of CA staff, guide open advertising campaigns for vacant board and committee roles.
- Review governance: Keep nomination processes aligned with Sport Australia standards.
- Succession planning: Build a reliable pipeline of qualified future leaders.
