North Gold Coast Seahawks is seeking an organised, proactive and people-focused Operations & Competitions Manager to lead the delivery of our domestic competitions and coordinate the operational requirements supporting basketball across the Association.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys bringing people, venues, systems and schedules together. Working closely with the General Manager, you will help ensure our competitions, programs, training and representative activities are well planned, compliant and delivered to a consistently high standard.
About the role
You will oversee junior and senior domestic competitions across multiple venues, manage court bookings and venue relationships, administer representative programs, and serve as a key point of contact for junior clubs, seniors teams, officials, volunteers and participants.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning, scheduling and managing junior and senior domestic competitions.
- Maintaining fixtures, grading, results, ladders and competition communications.
- Coordinating court bookings for competitions, training, programs, trials and events.
- Managing relationships with the City of Gold Coast, schools and other venue providers.
- Overseeing game-day readiness and responding to forfeits, disruptions and operational issues.
- Managing competition-related complaints, disputes and disciplinary processes fairly and professionally.
- Coordinating junior and senior representative registrations, eligibility requirements and administration.
- Providing direction and operational support to Competition Court Controllers and other assigned staff or volunteers.
- Maintaining accurate records, calendars, reports and documented procedures.
- Supporting safe, compliant and participant-focused basketball operations.
- Identifying opportunities to improve competition delivery, venue use, communications and the participant experience.
About you
You are a capable organiser who can manage complex schedules, changing priorities and a wide range of stakeholders without losing sight of the details. You communicate clearly, remain calm under pressure and approach complaints or conflict with sound judgement and impartiality.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
- Experience in sports administration, competition management, venue operations, program administration or a comparable coordination role.
- Strong planning and organisational skills, including experience managing multiple venues and competing deadlines.
- Experience coordinating bookings and working with external venue providers.
- The ability to manage complaints, conflict and sensitive matters calmly, fairly and confidentially.
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office, Teams and database or competition-management systems (BasketballConnect experience highly regarded).
- Availability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, in line with competition schedules.
- A current Paid Blue Card, or the ability to obtain one before commencing.
- A current driver licence and reliable transport.
Knowledge of basketball competition structures and representative pathways, experience using Basketball Connect, and previous responsibility for supervising staff or volunteers will be highly regarded.
