We are seeking an experienced and high-performing Assistant Coach - Defence to join our NRL Football Department.
Reporting directly to the Head Coach, this role will play a critical part in designing, implementing and continuously improving our defensive systems and strategies as we pursue excellence at the elite level.
About the Role
As Assistant Coach - Defence, you will work closely with the Head Coach and broader football program to develop a world-class defensive framework that drives team performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and refining defensive systems, structures and game strategies.
- Planning and delivering high-quality defensive training sessions and drills.
- Contributing to preseason and in-season planning to optimise team performance.
- Monitoring player development and providing ongoing coaching and feedback.
- Supporting game day operations from the coaches' box through live analysis and tactical adjustments.
- Conducting detailed opposition and post-match video analysis.
- Contributing to player selection discussions and end-of-season reviews.
- Working collaboratively with coaching, high performance and wellbeing staff to achieve football objectives.
- Representing the club professionally with media, sponsors, fans and key stakeholders.
- Upholding the club's values of Family, Teamwork, Excellence, Respect and Honesty.
About You
We are looking for an accomplished rugby league professional who combines technical expertise with outstanding leadership and communication skills.
To be successful, you will bring:
- NRL High Performance Coach accreditation.
- Significant experience in elite rugby league as either a player or coach.
- Extensive coaching experience across NRL and high-performance environments.
- Demonstrated success supporting game strategy development, season planning and performance improvement.
- Expertise in performance analysis, game review processes and the effective use of technology and data.
- Strong understanding of contemporary high-performance sporting systems.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building capabilities.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
- Deep knowledge of rugby league and the factors required to achieve sustained success at the elite level.
Essential Requirements
- Legal entitlement to work in Australia.
- Valid Australian Driver's Licence.
- Valid Australian Passport.
- Ability to work outside standard business hours, including travel and match-day commitments.
- Current National Police Check (or ability to obtain one).
