THE ROLE
U@MQ Ltd is currently seeking a full-time Development Swimming Coach to join the Macquarie University Sports and Aquatics Centre (MUSAC) team. Reporting to the Head Coach, the Development Swimming Coach will be responsible for delivering face to face training sessions for the 14 & Under Development program; targeting Metropolitan & State Age qualifiers.
You will:
- Coach and develop swimmers from junior transition phase (completion of the Learn to Swim program) through to Junior Competition phase within the MUSAC Swim Squad program
- Develop and implement seasonal training plans for junior development aged swimmers, providing coaching and advice on technical stroke correction and competition-based performance training plans
- Provide direction to swimmers of all abilities, adapting and modifying stroke models to suit varying ability
- Attend and coach at Macquarie University Swimming Club races, internal and external competitions
- In consultation with the Head Coach, plan and coordinate the running of MQU internal Club racing opportunities
- Support the administration and organisation of Macquarie University Swimming Club events
- In collaboration with the Head Coach and Age Group Swimming Coach, develop and implement student retention activities
- Consult with Head Coach to assist and provide feedback within the swim squad program via the use of management systems, for continued growth and improvement of the swim squad program
- Coach School Holiday Swim Squad Programs
- Maintain accurate records on athletes/swimmers’ progression within the program
- Completion of administration duties including parent enquiries & parent feedback on student progression
- Maintain a working knowledge and understanding of the centre's Emergency Action Plan
- Comply with relevant EEO and WHS regulations
- Perform any other duties as required and appropriate for this classification.

Macquarie University Sport and Aquatic Centre (MUSAC) is a multi-purpose venue located at Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde. The facility includes a 6-lane indoor heated pool and an 8-lane outdoor Olympic-sized heated pool. The coaching team provides expert coaching and technical guidance to competitive swimmers of all ages.

About You (Selection Criteria)
You are an experienced and enthusiastic swimming coach with a customer-focused approach and a genuine commitment to developing competitive junior swimmers. You work effectively both independently and collaboratively and can build positive relationships with swimmers, parents, colleagues and other stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Experience coaching within a competitive squad development environment, including swimmers competing at Area, Metropolitan or Country level and above,
- The ability to develop and nurture swimmers of varying abilities and diverse backgrounds,
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish and maintain respectful, professional and ethical relationships with swimmers, parents, staff and other stakeholders,
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to plan effectively and manage competing priorities,
- The ability to handle sensitive participant matters respectfully, professionally and confidentially,
- Demonstrated customer-service and complaint-handling experience, and
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel.
Licences and Certifications

- Australian Swim Coach License from Swimming Australia
- Current NSW Working with Children Check
*** Work hours will vary throughout the competition season. Must be available to work on a rotating roster seven (7) days per week and available to work split shifts.
*** This role requires the successful completion of a police check.
