The Head of JDL within the MJDL at both the BDSFA and Blacktown Spartans is responsible for the leadership, design and delivery of a U9, U10, U11 and U12 player and coach development program. Working alongside the Head of Football, the role ensures alignment with the association and club's football philosphy, curriculum and player development principles while supporting coaches within the program to deliver high quality learning environments that prioritise long term player development and a lifelong love of sport.
Key responsibilities include:
Program design and alignment:Oversee the structure, curriculum, and methodology across Youth and JDL programs to ensure consistency and progression between age groups. Ensure alignment with the club philosophy, National Curriculum and JDL requirements.
Coach development and support: Lead the ongoing development of coaches through observations, feedback, mentoring, and formal CPD. Create an environment that supports reflective practice, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Player development and welfare: Ensure the program is centred on individual player development, appropriate challenge, and positive learning experiences. Oversee player reviews, transitions between phases, and ensure welfare standards are consistently met.
Quality assurance and standards: Monitor and maintain program standards across sessions, game days, and competitions. Ensure training environments, game formats, and behaviours align with the intended development outcomes.
Collaboration and communication: Work closely with technical staff, administrators, and stakeholders to ensure clear communication and smooth program delivery. Act as a key point of contact for and JDL matters.
Planning and delivery: Oversee seasonal planning, calendar alignment, and implementation of initiatives such as workshops, festivals, and internal development events.
