Help shape the next generation of high-performance swimmers

Sydney Uni Sport is looking for an experienced and ambitious swimming coach to join our high-performance program as Program Manager / Assistant Coach – Sydney University Performance Centre.

This is an exciting opportunity for an established swimming professional who wants to combine high-performance coaching with program leadership, athlete development and talent recruitment within one of Australia’s leading university sporting environments.

Working closely with our Head Coach and High Performance team, you’ll play an integral role in developing and delivering the annual training program for our High Performance Swim Team, providing technical coaching and individual athlete support, and helping create an environment where talented swimmers can perform at their best.

You’ll also help strengthen the program beyond the pool – identifying and attracting emerging talent, supporting athlete retention, coordinating competition requirements and building productive relationships across the Australian swimming and high-performance sporting network.

What you’ll be doing

• Deliver high-quality coaching and technical instruction to our High Performance Swim Team.
• Work with the Head Coach to develop and implement annual training and individual athlete development programs.
• Use video analysis and other performance tools to enhance athlete technique and performance.
• Support the recruitment and retention of talented swimmers, including prospective scholarship athletes.
• Work collaboratively with physical preparation and high-performance staff to support athlete development.
• Coordinate athlete participation and provide coaching support at competitions.
• Build strong relationships with key stakeholders including Swimming Australia, Swimming NSW, NSWIS, AIS and the Sydney University Swimming Club.
• Support the administration, planning and ongoing development of the high-performance swimming program.

The role has genuine breadth: the successful candidate will be involved in programming, coaching, recruitment and retention, competition management, stakeholder relationships and program administration.

About you

You’re an experienced swimming coach who understands what it takes to develop athletes competing at a high level. Just as importantly, you’re organised, collaborative and able to build strong relationships with athletes, coaches and sporting stakeholders.

You’ll bring:

• 5+ years’ experience within the professional sport industry.
• Silver Licence coaching accreditation and a demonstrated record coaching elite swimmers to State, National and/or International level.
• Demonstrated experience developing and delivering elite swimming programs.
• Strong technical coaching capability, including experience using video as a coaching tool.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organisation and time-management skills.

A relevant tertiary qualification in Sports Science or a related discipline, First Aid qualification, Gold Licence and/or media experience will be highly regarded. SUS - Swimming Program Manager …
