ACU Football Club is looking for a volunteer Club Treasurer to join our committee and oversee the club's financial administration.
ACU FC is a community football (soccer) club based at Australian Catholic University's Strathfield Campus, competing in Football Canterbury competitions across men's, women's and O35s football.
This is a great opportunity for an accountant, bookkeeper, finance professional, business professional, retiree or accounting/finance student who would like to contribute their skills to community sport. It could also suit someone looking to gain practical experience in sports administration and financial management.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Maintaining accurate club financial records
- Monitoring income and expenditure
- Processing and recording payments and reimbursements
- Managing invoices and assisting with accounts payable/receivable
- Completing regular bank reconciliations
- Providing financial updates to the ACU FC committee
- Assisting with preparation and monitoring of the club's annual budget
- Supporting registration-fee and other income reconciliation
- Maintaining appropriate financial documentation and records
- Helping ensure good financial controls and transparent processes are maintained
- Assisting with end-of-season and annual financial reporting
The Treasurer works closely with the President and committee and participates in our monthly committee meetings, which are generally held online on a Monday evening.
The role is flexible and the work can be completed remotely. We anticipate an average commitment of approximately two hours per week, although workload will vary throughout the year.
Previous experience as a sporting-club Treasurer is not required. We are looking for someone who is reliable, organised, comfortable working with financial information and interested in contributing to a community football club.
The successful volunteer will be supported by the President and committee and will have the opportunity to help strengthen and improve ACU FC's financial systems and processes.
For someone looking to build their career in accounting, finance, business or sport, the position provides genuine hands-on experience with budgeting, financial administration, reporting and committee decision-making.
