Sydney Grammar School is seeking enthusiastic, knowledgeable and reliable Sport Coaches to join the sporting programme at our Edgecliff Preparatory School. We are looking for coaches who are passionate about working with young sportsmen and can teach, engage and inspire. Our coaches play an important role in developing strong fundamental skills, confidence, teamwork, sportsmanship and, importantly, genuine enjoyment of sport.
OPPORTUNITIES ACROSS SUMMER & WINTER
Coaching opportunities are available across Basketball, Cricket, Football (Soccer), Rugby and Tennis.
We particularly value versatile coaches who are confident working across more than one sport, with opportunities to coach across both Summer and Winter seasons. For example, a coach may work within our Basketball or Cricket programme during Summer before transitioning into Football or Rugby during Winter.
For the right coaches, this provides the opportunity to work consistently within the Edgecliff Sport programme throughout the school year.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Coaching and/or playing experience in one or more of our sports.
- The ability to plan and deliver engaging, purposeful and age-appropriate training sessions.
- A positive and encouraging coaching style and an enjoyment of working with primary-aged pupils.
- Reliability, organisation and professionalism.
- Strong communication and a willingness to work collaboratively as part of a coaching team.
- Adaptability and a willingness to continue learning and developing as a coach.
- Availability for weekday training sessions and Saturday fixtures.
Relevant coaching qualifications are highly regarded, however, applicants with strong playing and/or coaching experience are also encouraged to apply.
DEVELOP AS A COACH
We want our coaches to continue developing alongside our pupils. Coaches have the opportunity to work collaboratively with experienced staff and coaches and participate in professional development, coach education, feedback and mentoring opportunities within the School's sporting programme.
ABOUT THE ROLE
EMPLOYMENT: Casual
AGE GROUP: Years 3–6
TRAINING: Monday and Thursday
FIXTURES: Saturday mornings
SPORTS: Basketball, Cricket, Football (Soccer), Rugby and Tennis
Additional opportunities may also be available through training camps, sporting tours and other School sporting activities.
CHILD SAFETY
The safety and wellbeing of pupils is a paramount responsibility of every coach.
Successful applicants will be required to meet Sydney Grammar School's Child Protection and employment requirements, including holding a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) and First Aid and CPR certification, as required by the School.
