ANU Sport is an independent incorporated association that delivers sport, fitness and recreation services and opportunities to the ANU Community. ANU Sport is a UniSport Australia and Elite Athlete Friendly University member institution and the ANU is a member of the Group of 8, Australia’s eight leading universities.  

We exist to facilitate connections within the campus community through health, well-being and sport. Our aim is to enhance and grow the opportunities for students and the ANU community to engage in sport, fitness, and recreation, promoting well-being and balanced lifestyles. ANU Sport is responsible for the operation and management of the ANU Sport Fitness Centre and all the University sport and recreation facilities, along with supporting over 30 sport and recreation clubs and delivering social and competitive sporting programs.  

About the role: 

The Sport Coordinator - Campus Engagement is responsible for the Interhall Sport program, providing fixture scheduling, oversight of governance and financial management of the program. As well as fostering key relationships with ANU Residential Colleges staff and students  

In addition, the Sport Coordinator - Campus Engagement. is responsible for driving engagement to the ANU Sport community outreach programs and services within the university and broader community. The focus of this is outreach within the community and providing support to enhance the University experience through sport and recreation programs.  

As the custodians of sport and wellbeing programs on campus, ANU Sport is responsible for providing a diverse range of the sport and wellbeing programs aimed at meeting the needs of the entire campus community. The programs within the Campus Engagement portfolio include but are not limited to Social / Lunchtime Sport and Short Course hosted by Affiliated Clubs, External Contractors and / or the Fitness Centre and the ANU Sport Diversity and Inclusion plan. This role is responsible for the planning and implementation of these programs each semester, in addition to providing bespoke programs to stakeholders including Academic and Residential Colleges, ANU Central Services and Corporate Clients.  

University sport is a dynamic and fast-growing sector. The place of university sport in the broader Australian sporting landscape is quickly growing and UniSport Australia is undergoing exciting change to help facilitate the delivery of high quality and competitive sporting offerings and opportunities for students. Building relationships with the halls, colleges and faculties will be a key focus of this project.   

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Manage the operations of Interhall Sport, to ensure alignment with governance, financial management, and operational competition and health and safety requirements.
  • Stakeholder engagement - including the Heads of Halls, Sport Representatives in the colleges and halls, faculty staff members, and ANU Student Service executive. 
  • Liaise with ANU Hall Sport representatives and Inward Bound Race Directors to facilitate the operational delivery of Interhall Sport and Inward Bound activities and events, including providing regarding governance structures, budgeting and financial management.    
  • Develop annual calendar and prospectus of programs and events of all campus outreach, student engagement and corporate programs, to contribute to ‘Sport’ annual calendar.   
  • Coordinate the stakeholder relationships, marketing, and delivery of the campus, corporate and community engagement health and wellbeing programs on campus.  
  • Coordinate the planning of all elements of the social sport program, including selection of sports, competition management, facility bookings, equipment and other duties as required.  
  • Lead the daily operational delivery of the social sport program, including the daily management of casual staff.  
  • Oversight and management of Student Leadership in Sport Co-ordinators supporting program delivery of campus sport and programs.   
  • Support the planning and operational delivery of all representative university sport programs hosted by ANU Sport, which may include but not limited to planning and logistics of teams, uniform management, facility hire, training and selection programs, and travel with teams as required.  
  • Regular reporting to Management.

Mandatory 

  • Proven knowledge of governance structures and financial management. 
  • Experience in developing and implementing development programs and services. 
  • Proven ability to develop and implement policies and operating procedures. 
  • Experience using Microsoft 365 and Google-Suite and proven ability to learn new software systems.  
  • Proven capacity to manage multiple responsibilities 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Willingness to learn, show initiative and exercise judgement 
  • Ability to build relationships, develop strategic partnerships and work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders 

Desirable 

  • Success in developing business opportunities 
  • Experience working within a University or Club Association environment

Reporting Line: This role is a part of the Sport Development Unit and will report to the Sport Manager. The Sport Coordinator may be responsible for coordinating casual employees to operationally deliver programs.
