The City Life directorate delivers personalised and public services to enhance community life, including family, aged, leisure and cultural services.
About the Role
The Sports Centre Assistant plays a key role in providing excellent customer service, maintaining facility standards, and assisting in the smooth operation of Arncliffe Youth Centre.
This role requires enthusiasm for the sports and recreation industry, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team. The position would be a great fit for someone with coaching or sports competition coordination experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist patrons, answer inquiries about the centre, programs and services.
- Process sales, payments and daily reconciliation of tills.
- Review facility and program bookings.
- Set up courts and meeting spaces for bookings as required (including lifting and moving equipment).
- Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and safety of the centre including courts, meeting rooms and change rooms.
- Conduct regular checks on equipment to ensure safety and functionality
- Undertake a range of administrative tasks and duties, record keeping and communication requirements utilising software applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Respond and provide follow up on patron enquiries, needs and concerns in a timely manner.
- Identify, respond to, escalate, and report incidents or any potential hazards.
- Provide information about the facilities and services to ensure maximum participation and benefit for patrons.
- Undertake a range of administrative functions including cash handling, retail sales, reconciliation, and banking, opening, and closing of facilities, stock set and replacement and bookings.
- Scheduling and time keeping, ensuring patrons keep to the defined booking schedule.
- Tasks as defined by your direct supervisor, be an all-rounder.
About You
We are looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience working in recreational facilities/indoor sports centres.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Team orientated with the ability to work independently.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
- Confidence in the use of recreational facility management software (training provided).
- Current First Aid Certificate.
- Current Working with Children Check (NSW).
- Experience/knowledge in coaching or running sports competitions would be an advantage.
- Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings and weekend work.

Salary Range: $26.99 - $30.20 plus 25% casual loading
