Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and empathetic Wellbeing Manager to lead the holistic development and welfare of our players and staff. This role focuses on enhancing player performance, promoting physical and mental wellbeing, and supporting personal development to ensure long-term growth and success within our club community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement wellbeing plans that cover mental, emotional, and physical health.
- Provide access to confidential support services and resources for personal and professional challenges.
- Support players in career transitions and educational pursuits.
- Collaborate with medical, coaching, and conditioning staff to integrate wellbeing into player development.
- Monitor player workload to prevent burnout and support injury rehabilitation from a mental health perspective.
- Foster a positive, inclusive team culture and facilitate community engagement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with all safeguarding and integrity policies and act as the Club's Member Protection Officer.
About You
You are a proactive, empathetic professional with a background in wellbeing, sports science, or counseling, ideally with experience in high-performance environments. Your exceptional interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence allow you to build trust and rapport easily with players and staff alike. You are organized, adaptable, and passionate about supporting athletes in achieving their best, both on and off the field.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sports Science, Counseling, or a related field.
- Experience in a similar role within a professional sports setting.
- Knowledge of mental health, sports psychology, and athlete welfare practices.
- Blue Card (or eligibility to obtain one).
Desirable
- Experience within rugby league or high-performance sports.
- Familiarity with QRL, NRL, and RLPA wellbeing programs and safeguarding policies.
