The State League and Pathway Umpiring Manager is responsible for the development, maintenance and evolution of a talent program for State League and Pathway Umpires in South Australia.   

A key focus of this role will be the successful implementation of a new Talent Development Framework and supported by the State League Head Coach, a refreshed coaching philosophy aligned nationally, that promotes and curates a diverse and inclusive environment where all umpires and staff feel a strong sense of belonging. 

Leading a multi-discipline team of permanent, part time, casual and contractor people across coaching, wellbeing, physical performance and operations, the role is required to drive a culture of belonging, learning, teamwork, underpinned with an ability to influence and deliver outcomes. 

Key focus areas include:

  • State League and Talent Pathway Management - working collaboratively with the Head of Umpiring and the State League Umpiring Head Coach to implement elite umpiring programs, high-performance environments and recommendations from SANFL’s recent Umpiring review
  • Leadership and Performance - Delivering best practice officiating programs and environments that foster a high-performance and an inclusive culture
  • Stakeholder Management - Lead and maintain proactive relationships and communication with the SANFL League Clubs, SANFL Umpiring Department, SANFL Umpire’s Association, Community Umpiring Panels as well as all other internal and external stakeholders.

ABOUT YOU

You will be an experienced leader with previous success in influencing and driving change.  With sound working knowledge of optimal environments for high performance and inclusion. Your effective stakeholder management will be underpinned by highly developed people skills.

Key person specifications include:

  • An approachable and accessible nature
  • Ability to build relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders 
  • Flexible approach to work hours as there are evening and weekend contact hours
  • Strong alignment to SANFL values and teamwork
  • All SANFL team members are required to hold a current DHS Working with Children Check
  • Drivers License
  • Mental Health First Aid Accreditation (desirable).
  • A well-developed understanding of safeguarding children and young people principles
