An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and motivated sports coordinator to deliver an exceptional member experience at this important community facility.

About the Club

PCYC Nelson Bay is set in the beautiful, picturesque Port Stephens. We have the only indoor basketball court in the area, and we cater for a wide range of activities including gymnastics, pickleball, boxing, fitness classes, martial arts and futsal. The club is currently in a growth phase and we are looking to find a suitable candidate to build on the clubs success.

About the role

As a Sports Coordinator, classified as Senior Activities Officer under our Enterprise Agreement, you will be responsible for organising, promoting, developing, and implementing a range of competitions and activities that enhance community participation in sports. Your role will see you use your people leadership skills, financial acumen, analytical capability, and expertise to oversee all aspects of the club's sporting activities. You will be required to showcase your leading interpersonal, communication, and sales skills to drive a successful team to deliver an exceptional member experience.

In this role you will:

  • Manage sales budgets and analyse results to determine proactive strategies for improvement 
  • Lead the delivery of exceptional member experiences and the successful resolution of member concerns 
  • Oversee the smooth operation of sports competitions, including generating draws, publishing results, recruiting and rostering referees, handling logistics, and providing excellent customer service to all teams in the competition
  • Develop and deliver a comprehensive suite of high quality learn to play programs across a variety of sports
  • Assist reception desk services and administration
  • Drive lead generation, sales and retention activities
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and build relationships with members
  • Ensure the facility is clean, safe, and running efficiently
  • Support and assist sports coaches in delivering top-quality sessions
  • Promoting the club within the local community through outreach and marketing efforts

NOTE - this is a hands-on role - you will be an integral part of the team when it comes to refereeing games and delivering inspiring training sessions

About You

Are you self-motivated with a passion for sport and have flexibility to work afternoons and evenings. As well as,

  • Experience in basketball coaching and development
  • Experience managing sport and recreation programs
  • Sports Coaching accreditation recognised by NCAS
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong sales acumen with a demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Proficiency in CRM software, along with standard office tools
  • Outgoing and friendly personality
  • A positive role model, collaborative and team orientated
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
