ROLE PURPOSE

The purpose of SA’s HP Program is to support Australian athletes to become the world’s best surfers and people.

Project manage and lead operations for the Pathway Program on time, on budget, efficiently & to all key stakeholders’ satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of our High Performance team, the Pathway Operations Manager will have the overall responsibility for the logistics, project management, execution & reporting of Surfing Australia’s Pathway strikes, camps and competitions. These strikes, camps and competitions will be conducted at Surfing Australia’s High-Performance Centre, Casuarina as well as at a variety of other National and International locations. Responsibilities include;

  • Planning & executing travel logistics for the Pathway team travelling to activity related to program outcomes
  • Planning & executing travel logistics & event management for WSL World Juniors & ISA World Juniors, SUP and Longboard events.
  • Working alongside coaches, identify opportunities to develop and expand Pathway programs outcomes, exploring new models, offerings, and partnerships. Building and maintaining strategic and collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and sport partners.
  • This role will work closely with the Head of Pathway to ensure that Pathway activity is planned, administered (including updating policy and proceedures) and is delivered professionally and within budget.
  • Manage effective financial and administrative coordination for Pathway activity where applicable as directed by Head of Pathway Program.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments of SA towards organisational and sport outcomes
  • Adhere to all the SA policies and procedures, particularly the Code of Conduct & reflect the SA values in everyday work environment
  • Comply with WHS legislation, company WHS policies, objectives and procedures. Contribute and participate in the health and safety of all staff, visitors and contractors.

SUCCESS PROFILE:

  • 3 years’ experience in an event or project management role
  • 1+ years’ experience working in the sports industry
  • 1+ years’ experience working in administration
  • Demonstrated experience in influencing athletes and coaches for mutual program benefit.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and report concise and relevant information, including recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Proven success in managing athletes across season/campaigns at junior national or international level.
  • Proven experience in multi-tasking and assisting with project management to achieve business objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to project manage, proanalyse information, interpret results and produce reports for program review
  • Develop schedules, timelines, and milestones for others to ensure projects are completed on time

  • Intermediate/Advanced knowledge of MS Office and other sports specific computer programs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams
  • Hard working and passionate about your career and about making a difference
  • Knowledge of KPIs and marketing techniques for event management
  • Outstanding negotiation ability
  • A knack for problem-solving
  • First Aid and Resuscitation Certificate preferred
  • Current driver’s licence
  • Working with Children Check
  • Passionate surfer highly regarded
  • Relevant University degree preferred

PLEASE NOTE:

  • This position is required to travel domestically and/or internationally.
  • This position requires/may require weekend work, or outside ordinary work hours.
  • The successful candidate for this role will be subject to a National Police Criminal History Check prior to appointment.
  • The successful candidate for this role will be required to undertake a Security Clearance.
