About Skate Australia

Skate Australia (SA), founded in 1962, is the National Sporting Organisation for Skate Sports in Australia. SA is recognised by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC), the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) and the International Federation World Skate.

Working in partnership with affiliated State Skating Associations, SA brings together the diverse and active skating disciplines of artistic, inline downhill, inline freestyle, inline hockey, inline speed, rink hockey, roller derby, roller freestyle and skateboarding (downhill, street luge, vert, park and street).

Skate Australia is currently in market for a Chief Executive Officer to propel our sport forward and inspire a ‘community that rolls together’.

About the Role

The Board at Skate Australia are seeking a high energy, high impact, strategic leader with innovative flare to advance the sport for all in Australia.

The CEO will work to ensure the sport achieves its vision and strategy, this includes overseeing all operational aspects, driving performance objectives, engaging a diverse range of stakeholders and inspiring a community that strives for positive outcomes both in and out of competition.

Working closely with the Board; your key accountabilities will include.

  • Partnering with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to progress Skates position throughout Australia.
  • Delivery of all operational activities on behalf of the Board and ensure active oversight of all business activities such as, Finance, HR, Marketing and Program Delivery.
  • Driving engagement with Skate Australia members to support transparent and efficient clarity of roles and responsibilities.
  • Deliver, monitor, and report against the SA business plans, projects and targets.
  • Ensure governance, compliance, risk management and organisation-wide planning are fit for purpose and best practice.
  • Enabling and embedding sustainable success aligned to the 2032+ Win Well sport strategy.

About you

We are looking for someone with the following skills, qualifications and experience:

  • Experience leading a team towards a vision, getting key stakeholders on board and embedding behaviours that help deliver the vision.
  • Experience in managing complex projects and competing agendas to prioritise, manage and deliver outcomes that achieve strategic and operational objectives.
  • Familiarity with community sport and/or high-performance sport programs and the ability to oversee their development and implementation at a national level.
  • Financial management capabilities, including the ability to interpret and report on financial accounts and make sound financial decisions.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, leading the organisation with strong personal presence, emotional intelligence, and self-awareness.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders including government agencies.
  • Confidence with change management, transformation, and project delivery.

Position location

Negotiable. South East, Queensland (desirable).
