WAIS is on the hunt for a Para-Sport game changer!
WAIS is seeking a dynamic, passionate and innovative leader to drive the exciting new Para Unit.
With funding from the Australian Institute of Sport, Paralympics Australia and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, WAIS is establishing a Para Unit to identify and support para athletes in WA.
The brand-new role is all about identifying, developing and propelling WA’s next generation of para athletes onto the national and international stage.
You’ll be at the heart of a high-energy, high-performance team, working alongside skilled coaches and performance support staff to unlock potential and build champions.

WAIS was established in 1984 to enable Western Australian athletes to achieve international sporting success. We operate in partnership with National Sporting Organisations and State Sporting Associations along with the VenuesWest and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries to deliver a high- performance training environment for sports and athletes.

Role Overview.
In this newly created role, you will work with the Strategic Initiatives Director and Para Unit Lead along with State Sporting Associations and Disability organisations to achieve a coordinated approach to developing para athletes to ensure the best representation of WA athletes at our next home games - Brisbane 2032 Paralympic Games.
Alongside a skilled team of coaches and performance support staff, you’ll work with a collective goal of finding and developing talented WA para-sport athletes.

- Find WA’s untapped para-sport talent - from the grassroots to future gold medallists.
- Guide athletes on their journey to WinWell - from first try-outs to world-class performance
- Shape pathways for success - connecting athletes with expert coaching and resources
- Champion para-sport in WA - because the future is inclusive, exciting and full of possibilities.
About you:
- You have a genuine passion for para-sport and athlete development and your understanding of classification of para athletes will make you stand out from the crowd!
- Your energy, innovation and drive to make things happen knows no bounds - you’ll have this program up and running in no time!
- You’re a people person that loves creating meaningful and strategically aligned stakeholder relationships that will drive achievement of the unit’s goals.
- You have a proven ability to work with and inspire and motivate others with your fresh ideas and inclusive approach in the workplace.
- You’re excited about your vision for growing para-sport in WA and building a legacy of success and are skilled enough to provide your expert advice to support effective decision making at WAIS.
- You have a deep commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion which you can demonstrate through working with diverse communities, including para athletes.
- You know how to create an accessible, athlete centred program that removes barriers to participation to ensure all athletes can thrive.
- You have tertiary qualifications in sport management, sports science or other relevant field and/or demonstrated knowledge and ability through lived experience.
- Above all else, you are a genuine team player that cares about others and always acts with kindness and integrity.

This position is full time (37.5 hours per week) however, part time applications (minimum 15 hours per week) may also be considered for a job share arrangement.
