ABOUT THE ROLE
Football Australia is committed to growing the game at all levels and maximising commercial opportunities that contribute to the sport’s long-term success. Our Licensing and Merchandising strategy plays a critical role in building Football Australia’s brand presence, driving fan engagement, and generating revenue through strategic partnerships and expanding our range of consumer products. By leveraging intellectual property rights, brand assets, and commercial agreements, Football Australia ensures that licensed products align with the organisation’s vision and deliver value to both the game and its stakeholders.
The Licensing Executive will help contribute to the shaping of Football Australia’s licensing strategy, ensuring that official merchandise, apparel, collectibles, and other licensed products enhance the fan experience while maintaining brand integrity. This role will manage relationships with existing licensees, assist in identifying new licensing opportunities, research new products, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to optimise the licensing portfolio.
A key focus of the role is to ensure that licensed products not only meet commercial objectives but also contribute to Football Australia’s broader strategic goals, including grassroots development, community engagement, and the promotion of national teams. The Licensing Executive will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with brand guidelines and contractual obligations within the licensing program.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Alongside GM Commercial & Football Australia’s licensing agency, execute Football
- Australia's licensing strategy to drive brand growth and commercial revenue.
- Identify new licensing opportunities that align with Football Australia's brand and commercial objectives.
- Assist in managing the full lifecycle of licensing agreements, from negotiation and execution to renewal and termination.
- Serve as a point of contact for all licensees, ensuring strong relationships and ongoing collaboration.
- Provide licensees with brand guidelines, approvals, and marketing support to ensure high-quality product execution.
- Conduct regular business reviews with licensees to track performance, sales, and compliance.
- Ensure all licensed products adhere to Football Australia's brand standards, intellectual property guidelines, and legal requirements.
- Work closely with internal teams (marketing, legal, and commercial) to safeguard Football Australia's IP and trademarks.
- Ongoing management of licensed product stock levels on Football Australia’s online store, ensuring consistency in customer experience and purchasing opportunities
- Develop retail activation plans to support licensed product distribution across key retail channels (e.g., online, major retailers, and matchday venues).

ABOUT YOU
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of intellectual property (IP), licensing, and brand management principles.
- Familiarity with the Australian sports industry, particularly football, and its commercial landscape.
- Knowledge of retail, merchandising, and product distribution channels.
- Awareness of consumer trends and fan engagement strategies in sports licensing.
- Understanding of contract negotiation, royalty structures, and revenue models in licensing agreements.
- Ability to identify and capitalise on licensing opportunities to drive revenue growth.
- Strong skills in negotiating agreements and managing relationships with licensees, retailers, and stakeholders.
- Proven experience in negotiating and managing licensing agreements.
- Experience working with retailers, distributors, or e-commerce platforms to drive product visibility and sales.
- Demonstrated experience in managing relationships with internal teams, licensees, and external partners.
- Track record of growing licensing revenue and identifying new business opportunities.
- Minimum 3+ years in licensing, brand management, or commercial partnerships, preferably in sports, entertainment, or retail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Superior organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work on multiple projects to different timelines.
