The role also oversees the recruitment, education, accreditation, and ongoing development of Para Powerlifting technical officials to support competition delivery at all levels of the sport.  

About the Role 

As the Competitions & Officials Manager-Para Powerlifting you will: 

  • Oversee the national competition calendar, ensuring compliance with World Para Powerlifting (WPP) regulations for approved competitions 
  • Increase competition availability and delivery throughout Australia to enable more athletes to compete more often at all levels of the pathway.  
  • Manage event logistics, including venues, competition equipment, classification, and scheduling. 
  • Lead the recruitment, education, and accreditation of technical officials.  
  • Ensure alignment with WPP standards, implement a mentoring system, and manage the national officials’ database. 
  • Work with Performance & Pathways staff to align competitions with athlete development needs. 
  • Ensure competitions and officiating adhere to anti-doping, safety, classification, and integrity policies.  
  • Maintain technical manuals and guidelines as required. 
  • Act as the key liaison for WPP and state partners and stakeholders, supporting local event organisers and technical officials.  
  • Manage budgets, track expenditure, and provide reports on competition outcomes and officials’ development.

About You 

We’re seeking someone with: 

  • Understanding and/or working knowledge of para-sports, with preference for demonstrated experience is desirable.
  • Experience in competition coordination and delivery is essential.
  • Experience working with coaches, athletes, and staff in a performance support environment. 
  • Ability to implement strategy and be innovative in the approach to grow and develop an emerging Paralympic sport. 
  • Initiation and maintenance of key stakeholder relationships and partnerships. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and strong communication, administrative and stakeholder engagement skills to align and effectively execute program and strategy initiatives. 
  • Experience working in strength-based sports is preferable although not essential. 
  • The ability to meet the requirements of the role for interstate and international travel and weekend work.
