About the team –

The Platform Services teams collaborate closely as their work is interconnected with each other and across Technology Group where effective communication and alignment are essential for a well-functioning IT ecosystem that enables effective sustainment across the organisation. The teams high level functions and capabilities include:

  • The Development Team focuses on industry best practice when developing and delivering Technology Group approved products against the overall structure of ASC’s IT systems.
  • The Business Analysis team, using a Community of Practice approach, will focus on engagement with stakeholders to elicit and capture business requirements and develop pragmatic designs for technology-enabled solutions. The team will also facilitate cohesive cross functional teams with a focus on pipeline delivery that is integrated into day-to-day operations and support.
  • The Service Validation & Testing Team will focus on designing and running (managing) tests on developed Products or Platforms and their usability to support the delivery of the Technology Groups approved pipeline of Projects. SV&T are involved in the quality assurance stage of software development and deployment, including conducting automated and manual tests to ensure the software created by developers is fit for purpose and any bugs or issues

In addition, actively promote and role model the ASC values of Excellence, Integrity, Respect and Teamwork, and contribute to positive organisational change, effective communication, and continuous improvement at the ASC.

About the role –

The Director, Platform Services will manage and lead the Platform Services service tower within Technology Group overseeing complex technology projects and programs and the team of professionals who undertake the development, testing, release, deployment and delivery of those Projects and Programs into operations which are aligned to Technology Group and the broader ASC’s digital and future sector strategies and customer experience expectations.

The Director will play a critical role in implementing the ASC’s Technology Strategy while adhering to the Group’s ITSM, Project and Transition Management governance model and processes. In addition, the core

  • Platform Services accountabilities and responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
  • Platform & Product Development
  • Service Validation Management
  • Test Management
  • Release Coordination & Compliance across Technology Group environments (DEV, TEST, UAT to PROD)

As part of the Technology Group’s leadership team, you will contribute and facilitate high level strategic advice and direction across the ITSM model to assist the Group in successfully achieving its delivery commitments and provide overall management responsibility for the Section, ensuring high level judgement, decision making and advice to deliver effective people management that motivates employees and optimises both individual and team performance.

About you –

Our ideal candidate must be an experienced leader with extensive knowledge of and demonstrated experience in structured and methodical approaches and an ability to focus the teams to achieve the goals of the Technology Group.

You will need to understand the benefits of effective Platform and Product development as well as release and deployment and testing and validation best practices and their integration with other ITSM practices, such as ITIL., SDLC and DevOps to align ICT services efficiently and effectively with the needs of business.

The role will suit a candidate who is passionate about making a difference in a small agency, is pragmatic and takes a risk-based approach to drive service value for internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree or higher qualification/s or demonstrated senior level experience delivering and leading Information Technology services in a high demand Government service environment.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years proven experience in product management in technology companies or organisations.
  • At least 3-5 years of Agile product enhancement and management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in product design and ‘test and learn’ methodologies
  • Advanced understanding of technology infrastructure and customer facing technologies; proven proficiency in successfully implementing digital technology change in a complex technology environment.
  • Experience in successfully managing a diverse team, including demonstrated success in achieving team and project objectives and cohesion in line with a strategic direction.
  • Demonstrated high level experience in managing financial resources, risk management, business planning and strategy development.
  • Working understanding of ITIL service practices or similar risk mitigation practices applied across service lifecycle to drive service value for customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate dynamically and persuasively in both written and face-to-face communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify improvements, seek plan approval and drive work that delivers timely outcomes in a service performance context.
  • Demonstrated capacity to provide timely, compelling and concise advice to inform executive members and senior management to support decision making.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels of the ASC.

Eligibility

  • To be eligible for this position applicants are required to be Australian citizens only and must be able to obtain and maintain an AGSVA Security Clearance.
