Toowoomba Grammar School is seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to oversee our Volleyball and Basketball programs across the Junior and Senior Schools. This is a unique opportunity to shape the strategic direction of two of our most prominent court sports, fostering excellence in both participation and performance.
The Head of Volleyball and Basketball is a pivotal leadership role within the Co-Curricular Activities Department, responsible for the strategic direction, operational management, and development of Volleyball and Basketball programs. The role supports student engagement, performance outcomes, and alignment with the School’s broader educational goals.
About Toowoomba Grammar School
Toowoomba Grammar School was founded in 1875 and is a member school of the Great Public Schools Association of Queensland (GPS). It is an independent non-denominational day and boarding school for boys with a total enrolment of 1,200 from Preparatory to Year 12. There are approximately 300 boarders in the School coming predominantly from throughout Queensland, Northern New South Wales and the Northern Territory. The School’s campus covers 20.5 hectares and is located one kilometre from the centre of Toowoomba.

About the Position
As the Head of Volleyball and Basketball, you will lead the development, coordination, and delivery of high-quality programs that align with the School’s co-curricular vision. You will manage coaching staff, oversee logistics and scheduling, and build strong relationships with students, parents, staff, and external sporting bodies. This role also includes oversight of the Toowoomba Grammar Blazers Academy and coordination of club competitions and representative pathways.
Selection Criteria:
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in coaching or administration in Volleyball or Basketball
- Certificate III in Business (Administration) or equivalent experience
- Current and valid Driver’s Licence
- Desirable: Experience in an educational setting and intermediate coaching qualifications
Technical Capabilities
- Strong communication and liaison skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and school database systems (e.g., TASS)
- High-level organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain attention to detail
Personal Attributes
- Energetic, motivated, and client-focused
- Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills
