The Administration & Sport Development Officer will support Snow Australia Northern Interschools and associated events.
This role will provide administrative and operational support for Interschools events and other Snow Australia event needs. The officer will be a key part of the Snow Australia Interschools Event Management Team (NSW, ACT, QLD, SA, AUS).
Reporting to the Community Engagement Manager, the officer will assist with event enquiries, event preparation, and on-snow execution for the 2026 Interschools Snowsport Championships at Perisher, Thredbo, and potentially Falls Creek. Additionally, they may be required to assist with the delivery of other Snow Australia events.
About the Role
Reporting to the Community Engagement Manager and/or National Events Coordinator, this role will be responsible for supporting the effective and efficient event operations including;
- Assist with maintaining the Interschools Snowsports Championships website and managing associated digital communications.
- Support the implementation of the new interschools online entry system, providing assistance to parents, carers and schools to ensure entries are completed by required deadlines.
- Assist schools with managing event entries and meeting volunteer requirements within set timeframes.
- Support the delivery of course official training initiatives, including face-to-face sessions and webinars.
- Assist with community communications, including eDM content and webinar coordination.
- Provide administrative support, including managing event-related email and phone enquiries.
- Review and validate school entries, identifying discrepancies and following up with schools as required.
- Coordinate bib-rolling preparation and support the set-up and delivery of bib-rolling activities.
- Coordinate the mogul and slopestyle judges for events.
- Coordinate the allocation and scheduling of volunteers across all on-snow events.
- Support the verification of results and the distribution of event invitations.
- When required, assist with event logistics, including transport, accommodation, and the set-up of on-snow event offices.
- Attend and support event day operations, including event enquiries, volunteer check-in, bib collection, on-course duties, confirmation of disqualifications, results generation, and awards presentation support.
- Oversee course officials and support the safe and effective running of competition courses.
- Undertake other duties as required in support of Snow Australia and its events.
Skill and Experience
- Highly motivated and quick learner with excellent attention to detail and experience in delivering high-quality events and providing project management support.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office/365 Suite
- Demonstrated experience in event or project management support
- Customer service experience
- Exceptional communication skills and proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Enjoy working autonomously as well as within a team
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deliver and complete tasks within tight timelines
- Attention to detail and high-level organisational skills with proven ability to multi-task in a dynamic fast paced environment
- Flexible and versatile in their approach
- Experience in communication and/or developing social media content is highly desirable
Knowledge and understanding of the Australian snow industry/Interschools Snowsport Championships is highly desirable.
Employment Requirements
- Weekend work, or outside ordinary work hours will be required
- During event periods the successful candidate may need to work 6-day weeks or extended hours
- During event periods there will be extended time standing on snow in all weather conditions
- Ability to travel domestically, including the ability to stay on-snow during events (as required)
- Must be a competent skier or snowboarder and own their equipment including a snowsport helmet
- On-snow accommodation may be provided during event periods.
- A current drivers licence is preferred, and access to a vehicle to get to events / and or ability to drive a work vehicle at events as required.
